Hello All,
I thought that I would further introduce myself since my first couple of emails
presented a problem rather than were an introduction.
My Name is Bob Hunter and I have been a pocketmail user for 2 years. I have
never used any pocketmail device other than the Backflip. I use the backflip
with a palm IIIe with extended memory (8 megs). I use this arrangement when on
the road traveling as a consultant with a campus ministry organization.
I use pocketmail to stay in touch with family and friends when I am on the road
and occasionally for business purposes. For example this past Sunday I was on
the road and met a student who needed some information. I had that information
in a memo --so I used the automatic append feature of the backflip software to
add that memo to an email and sent it to the student on the spot using a campus
phone.
I have a print program on my palm that integrates with pocketmail. A little p
appears at the top of every email. tapping that p send the email out though the
infrared port to an infrared equipped printer. (for long conferences I take my
small parallel printer equipped with an infrared interface). When in hotels I
sometimes just fax what I need printed to the front desk.
On longer trips I usually also carry my palm modem for when I need to surf the
web. This is a dialup modem and I use it with Eudoraweb. I am seeking to
replace this arrangement with a wifi set up on a recently purchased TRGpro --it
is a modified Palm III with Compact Flash card capability. But I have had some
stability problems with the device so.... we will see.
I am writing this sitting in a coffee shop, using the fold out keyboard. I will
send it using my wifi phone which can send but not receive :-)
I am glad to have found this group. My one questions is "how IS pocketmail
doing. Is it likely to survive?"
Bob
