Podcast & Portable Media Expo 2006 On Pace To Set Record Attendance

Second annual show for the emerging podcasting medium is already
surpassing expectations, boasting more than 30 percent growth over
its inaugural year.

Mission Viejo, CA (PRWEB) August 25, 2006 -- The second annual
Podcast & Portable Media Expo is well on its way to becoming the
largest of its kind.

The conference, which was named Expo Magazine's Best New Show winner
2006, will take place September 29-30 at the Ontario Convention
Center in Ontario, California. It will feature exhibits and
conference sessions aimed at both corporate and individual
podcasters. The success of the show is a testament to increased
public and corporate interest in the emerging podcasting phenomenon.

"Last year, many people were still asking what podcasting was," said
Tim Bourquin, founder and CEO of TNC New Media, producers of Podcast
& Portable Media Expo. "This
year, everyone wants to know how they can get involved."

No longer seen as merely a hobbyist pastime, podcasting is rapidly
gaining acknowledgment from the business community as a valuable
communications and marketing tool.

"About half of the show's attendees will be independent podcasters,"
Bourquin said. "The other half will be from the corporate side who
produce podcasts for their own company or for clients."

Registration numbers so far for the 2006 Podcast & Portable Media
Expo are at 3,000 attendees and 85 exhibitors, up from slightly more
than 2,000 attendees and 60 exhibitors last year. In addition, two
of the three "official" hotels of the Podcast & Portable Media Expo
are already sold out. The third is nearly full.

More content, more conferences
With the incredible growth in podcasting and portable video content,
there are currently thousands of programs that cover a variety of
niche and mainstream topics.

"For listeners and viewers, the challenge is finding the content
they want from all of the choices available," Bourquin said. "For
podcasters and other content creators, the challenge is
to stand out in an increasingly crowded space."

To help meet that challenge, Podcast & Portable Media Expo 2006 will
offer an expanded range of conference sessions to accommodate the
ever-growing and increasingly specialized podcasting market. Areas
covered will include:

• Corporate Podcasting
• Video Podcasting
• Media Partnerships
• Marketing and Communications
• Subscription Business Models
• Advertising and Sponsorship Models
• Product Placement Models
• Distribution and Syndication
• Licensing and Digital Rights

Industry-leading exhibitors
The show floor at the 2006 Podcast & Portable Media Expo will
feature a broad range of both well-established and new, trend-
setting companies. Expo sponsors include PodcastReady, Podango.com
and Audible's Wordcast. Exhibitors include audio equipment
manufacturers Sony, Shure, Samson and Marantz; software makers
Adobe, Rogue Amoeba, TechSmith and Podcast Station; and RSS
distribution and management company FeedBurner, among others.
Microsoft and AMD will be sponsoring a blogger lounge. Limelight
Networks is the Official Content Delivery Network. GigaVox is the
Official Conference Audio Provider. Media Partners include The Mac
Observer, iPod Observer, Videomaker Magazine and iProng.com.
Although space is filling up quickly, exhibitors are still
encouraged to apply.

For registration, exhibitor, and travel information, visit the
Podcast & Portable Media Expo website: Podcast and Portable Media
Expo (http://www.PortableMediaExpo.com).

convenient on the computer.

About KaRi  and TPSradio

"KaRi" is the nickname for "Karen Marie", claimed a few years ago while
answering a crank call at LB's Rape Hotline. "Carry" is pronounced just like
"cash & carry" but is spelled K-a-R-i, just for the fun of it. ( There is no
"air" about the name whatsoever, no need to pronounce it funny :) The passion
is
podcasting, the ultimate fit for this part-time Postal Worker's personality.

ThePrimeSpot Radio Show began in 1999 at Long Beach City College when KaRi
tried to unsuccessfully donate her collection of 20 music CD's to the station.
Ray Burton suggested taking a class to connect with a DJ wanting to play
local music. There were none so her short-wave am show was born at klbc AM soon
after. In 2000, under the recommendation of am radio producer Jayson
Campadonia (and former klbc manager), TPSradio approached CSULB's student-owned
and
run station and began broadcasting via internet: KBEACH.org, founded by
csulb.edu 's Mike Soultanian in his dorm room in the late nineties and was
"Papa"
to many popular shows including BritClub, The Succubus Club, and the one
hosted by the DJ @ Fingerprints. TPSradio continued under the helm of John
Trapper, Rusty Savage and currently Ray Hernandez. Mike Stark (dot net of
wpmd.org
and formerly of CSULB's ksul), introduced TPSradio to Cerritos.edu/wpmd ,
Craig Breit and Dennis Clare in Summer and The Prime Spot finally expanded to a
second campus Summer of 2005.

TPSradio is loosely formatted (think "Late Night Talk Show meets Your CD
Player" or a Talk & Music "audio blog.") All genres of LOCAL music are played,
focusing on bands with upcoming shows. The target market is demographic,
specifically "The 562" area (code) of Southern California, All Peoples.
Specific
programming includes First Fridays (Poetry with Murray), Second Mondays (Joe
B. of AAmusic.org and FreedomFestival.us) and Third Fridays (Deborah Dixon
covers the SoCaLBlues music scene). Special cohosts have included Mo Power from
Long Beach Community Television, Kelly Zirbes of HepCcoalition, Raechel of
Kelso Booking. Stay tuned for DJ Wingard Manor from "The Pike", Erica from Good
Vibes Productions and Shea from the Long Beach Party Project.

At times TPSradio features people "from the inside out", and many times,
just plain ordinary folk who do and create great things. Most recently a
beautiful Iranian painter, a former political prisoner, gave a "virtual" tour
of
her Life, Terror, Art and Forgiveness. and 2006 opened with TPSradio host
Poet G Murray Thomas sharing his need for a kidney (You must have 0+ blood to
donate your kidney to Murray; call 562-804-5625 for more information); A
street interview with one of the last to party with Jimi Hendrix, another with
a
host from Mark & Brian Radio.... Log on to ListenAtYourLeisure.com to hear
Postal Workers on Parade, and "Take Five" with Dr. John Gray, who recently
passed through The 562. (Note: OCpodcasters.com MeetUps are a regular exception
to
"The 562"  rule).

SPEECH FORM FOR ANY BULLSHIT CHIEF EXECUTIVE ON HIS BIRTHDAY
   “Speech on” G.W.Bush/Clinton “Birthday” “The newspapers today are filled with
congratulations for [President George W. Bush]. The nuances vary, depending on
the tone, character, and attitude of the newspaper. All, however, agree on one
thing: [President George W. Bush] is a man of stature who has already
accomplished historically important deeds and faces still greater challenges. He
is the kind of statesman found only rarely in [U.S.A.]. During his lifetime, he
has the good fortune not only to be appreciated and loved by the overwhelming
majority of the [American] people, but even more importantly to be understood by
them. He is the only [American] politician of the post-war period who understood
the situation and drew the necessary hard and firm conclusions. All the
newspapers agree on this. It no longer needs to be said that he has taken up
[Richard Nixon’s, or Ronald Reagan’s] work and intends to complete it. There is
enough proof of this even for those who do not believe, or
  who think ill of him. I therefore do not think it necessary for me to discuss
the historical significance and still unknown impact of this man on the eve of
the day on which, far from the bustle of the [Capital Hill], [President
G.W.Bush] completes his [59th year]. I feel a much deeper need to personally
express my esteem for him, and in doing so I believe that I am speaking for many
hundreds of thousands of [Republicans] thoughout the country. We shall leave it
to those who were our enemies only a few months ago and who then slandered then
to praise him today with awkward words and embarrassing pathos. We know how
little [Geoge W. Bush] appreciates such attempts, and how much more the devoted
loyalty and lasting support of his friends and fellow fighters corresponds to
his nature.
   The mysterious magic that he exerts on all who come in contact with him cannot
alone explain his historic personality. There is more that makes us love and
esteem him. Through all the ups and downs of [George W. Bush’s] career, from the
beginning of his political activity to the crowning of his career as he seized
power, he has always remained the same: a person among people, a friend to his
[leader]s, an eager supporter of every ability and talent. He is a pathfinder
for those who devoted themselves to his idea, a man who conquered the hearts of
his [associate]s in the midst of battle and never released them.
   It seems to me that one thing has to be said in the midst of the profusion of
feelings. Only a few know [Bush] well. Most of the millions who look to him with
faithful trust do so from a distance. He has become to them a symbol of their
faith in the future. Normally the great men that we admire from a distance lose
their magic when one knows them well. With [Bush] the opposite is true. The
longer one knows him, the more one admires him, and the more one is ready to
give oneself fully to his cause.
   We will let others blow the trumpets. His friends and [associate]s gather
round him to shake his hand and thank him for everything that he is to us, and
that he has given to us. Let me say it once more: We love this man, and we know
that he has earned all of our love and support. Never was a man more unjustly
accused by the hate and slanders of his ill-wishers of other parties. Remember
what they said about him! A mishmash of contradictory accusations! They did not
miss accusing him of every sin, or denying him every virtue. When he nonetheless
overcame in the end the flood of lies, triumphing over his enemies and raising
the [Republican] flag over the [U.S.A.], fate showed its favor toward him to the
entire world. It raised him from the mass of people and put him in the place he
deserved because of his brilliant gifts and his pure and flawless humanity.
   I remember the years when — just released from prison — he began to rebuild
his party. We passed a few wonderful vacation days with him on his beloved
[Prairie Chapel Ranch] [high above] [Crawford, Texas]. Below us was the quiet
cemetery where his unforgettable friend [Karl Rove] is buried. We walked through
the mountains, discussed plans for the future, and talked about theories that
today have long since become reality. He then sent me to [Washington D.C.]. He
gave me a difficult and challenging task, and I still thank him today that he
gave me the job.
   A few months later we sat in a room in a small [Washington D.C.] hotel. The
party had just been [pushed out of power] by the [big spending Liberal card
carrying ACLU members] in the [power elites and vested interests]. [Terrible
losses were inflicted on it]. The [Republican] party was full of discouragement,
bickering and quarreling. Everyone was complaining about everyone else. The
whole organization seemed to have given up.
   [Bush], however, did not lose courage, but immediately began to organize a
defense, and helped out where he was needed. Although he had his own personal
and political difficulties, he found the time and strength to deal with the
problems and support his friends [on Capitol Hill].
   One of his fine and noble traits is that he never gives up on someone who has
won his confidence. The more his political opponents attack such a person, the
more loyal is [George W. Bush] support. He is not the kind of person who is
afraid of strong associates. The harder and tougher a man is, the more [Bush]
likes him. If things fall apart, his capable hands put them together again. Who
would have thought it possible that a mass organization that includes literally
everything could be build in this nation of individualists? Doing that is
[Bush]'s great accomplishment. His principles are firm and unshakable, but he is
generous and understanding toward human weaknesses. He is a pitiless enemy of
his opponents, but a good and warm-hearted friend to his [associate]s. That is
[Bush].
   We saw him at the party's two large [Right to Life] rallies, surrounded by the
[people] who saw in him [America]'s hope. In the evenings, we sat with him in
his hotel room. He was dressed in [a simple casual sport’s wear], the same as
always, as if nothing had happened. Someone once said that the great is simple,
and the simple is great. If that is true, it surely applies to [Bush]. His who
nature and his whole philosophy is a brilliant simplification of the spiritual
need and fragmentation that engulfed the [American] people after the war. He
found the lowest common denominator. That is why only his idea won: he modeled
it, and through him the average man in the street saw its depth and
significance.
   One has to have seen him in defeat as well as victory to understand what sort
of man he is. He never broke. He never lost courage or faith. Hundreds came to
him seeking new hope, and no one left without receiving renewed strength.
   On the day before [The Republicans were defeated at the polls, in 1992], we
met in a small farm house outside [Texas]. We talked deep into the night, but
not about our prospects for the next day, but rather about music, philosophy,
and worldview issues. Then came the experiences one can only have with him. He
spoke of the difficult years of his youth in [Texas] and [Connecticut], of his
war experiences [in the National Guard], of first years of the party. Few know
how hard and bitterly he had to fight. Today he is surrounded by praise and
thanks. Only fifteen years ago he was a lonely individual among millions. The
only difference between him and they was his burning faith and his fanatic
resolve to transform that faith into action.
   Those who believed that [Bush] was finished after the party's defeat in
[November 1992] failed to understand him. Only someone who did not know him at
all could make such a mistake. [Bush] is one of those persons who rises from his
defeats. Friedrich Nietzsche's phrase fits him well: "That which does not
destroy me only makes me stronger."
   This man, suffering under financial and party problems for years, assailed by
the flood of lies from his enemies, wounded in the depths of his heart by the
disloyalty of false friends, still found the limitless faith to lift his party
from desperation to new victories.
   How many thousands of [miles] have I sat behind him in cars or airplanes on
election campaigns. How often did I see the thankful look of a man on the
street, or a mother lifting her child to show him, and how often have I seen joy
and happiness when people recognized him.
   He kept his pockets filled with [envelopes] of [welfare checks], each with a
one or two [thousand dollars]. Every [working class stiff] he met got one. He
had a friendly word for every mother and a warm handshake for every child.
   Not without reason does the [American] youth admire him. They know that this
man is young at heart, and that their cause is in his good hands. Last Easter
Monday we sat with him in his small house on the [Prairie Chapel Ranch]. A group
of young hikers from [New Haven, Connecticut] where he was born, came by for a
visit. How surprised these lads were when they got not only a friendly greeting,
but all fifteen lads were invited in. They got a hurriedly prepared lunch, and
had to tell him about his hometown of [New Haven, Connecticut].
   The people have a fine sense for the truly great. Nothing impresses the people
as deeply as when a person truly belongs to his people. Of whom but [Bush] could
this be true: As he returned from [Ohio] to [Florida], people waved in every
village. The children [hummed] [Hail to the Chief] and threw bouquets of flowers
into the car. The [Secret Service] had closed the road in [Louisiana]. There was
no moving either forward or back. Confidently and matter-of-factly, the [State
Party leader] walked up to the car and said: "[Mr. President], an old party
member is dying in the hospital, and his last wish is to see his [president]."
   Mountains of work were waiting in [Washington]. But [Bush] ordered the car to
turn around, and sat for half an hour in the hospital at the bedside of his
dying party [associate].
   The [Liberal] press claimed he was a tyrant who dominated his satraps. What is
he really? He is the best friend of his [associates]. He has an open heart for
every sorrow and every need, he has human understanding. He knows each of his
associates thoroughly, and nothing happens in their public or private lives of
which he is not aware. If misfortune happens, he helps them to bear it, and
rejoices more than anyone else at their successes.
   Never have I seen his two sides in anyone else. We had dinner together on the
night of the [9-11 World Trade Center disaster]. We talked and listened to
music. [Bush] was a person among people. Twenty minutes later he stood in the
smoldering, smoking ruins of the [World Trade Center] building[s] and gave
piercing orders that led to the destruction of [democrats]. Later he sat in an
editorial office and dictated an article.
   For those who do not know [Bush], it seems a miracle that millions of people
love and support him. For those who know him, it is only natural. The secret of
his success is in the indescribable magic of his personality. Those who know him
the best love, and honor him the most. One who has sworn allegiance to him is
devoted to him body and soul.
   I thought it was necessary tonight to say that, and to have it said by someone
who really knows him, and who could find the courage to break through the
barriers of reserve and speak of [Bush] the man.
   Today he has left the bustle of the capital. He left the wreaths and hymns of
praise in [Washington]. He is somewhere in his beloved [Texas], far from the
noise of the streets, to find peace and quiet. Perhaps in a nearby room someone
will turn on a loudspeaker. If that should happen, then let me say to him, and
to all of [America]: [My President]! Millions and millions of the best
[Americans] send you their best wishes and give you their hearts. And we, your
closest associates and friends, are gathered in honor and love. We know how
little you like praise. But we must still say this: You have lifted [America]
from its deepest disgrace to honor and dignity. You should know that behind you,
and if necessary before you, a strong and determined group of fighters stands
that is ready at any time to give its all for you and your idea. We wish both

Hi All,
As I have been vodcasting for the last 12 months I haven't really dabbled in
podcasting, however I am now by necessity.
I am sure most people are sick of telemarketers. I have started to fight
back, decrease my stress and give myself (if no one else) a bit of a giggle
at the same time.
I am unleashing my Granpappy character on them and then podcasting it.
I wouldn't mind some feedback when people get the chance.

Btw if there are any commercial producers looking for elderly aussie
voiceover artists, Granpappy is available for hire :-)

Thanks

Hello,

I was not sure where to out this review.
I have already out it up as reply in the forum.:
http://www.herecomespod.org.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=17&PN=1

the reviews is also noted here

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello folks,
Here is my review of this podcast.
First I shall put my vote: Good!
Now my review.
1. Hook:
I consider the first 1-2 mins very important to hook someone into the
podcast, especially with niche subject podcasts. The intro to this
podcast was beautiful. A nice and soothing music background followed
by a well modulated voice which clearly explained the history of this
podcast and details of the episode - all within 1 minute. That was
superbly done.
2. Interviews:
Since this podcast consisted mainly of interviews I wanted to speak
about it specifically. My main criteria when listening to an interview
is that the questions and answers should both be clear, audible and
there should be a volume control such that the variance of volume
between the interviewer and the interviewee is not drastic. In this
age of Skype calls I have heard many podcasts that have problems
regarding this. I am happy to say that this podcast does not suffer
from this problem. All the interviews were very professional sounding
and were a treat to the ears. I did have some problem around the 4.30
mark when I felt that the interviewers voice volume was varying in a
funny manner. However it was only a minor glitch, one that was not
repeated.
3. Information:
All the information was very well delivered. The intent was clearly
explained and most discussions were quite focussed. This is not a very
important criteria for me (as I do like people going in all
tangents:)) but for a niche podcast this is a very good attribute.
4. Production:
The podcast had very good production values. Very easy on the ears!
5. Length:
This was the only issue I had with the podcast that prevented me from
giving an excellent rating. The show would be better with a cap of
around 25-30 minutes instead of 40 minutes. The reason is twofold:
a. The subject matter is quite niche. While people who want to hear it
might differ I found that it was difficult to keep my concentration
after around 25 mins. This is specially important considering that it
was not simple talk. There were details of some recipes being given
which I would like to hear with some concentration.
b. As I pointed out above the podcast is quit easy on the ear. However
it is conversational. The end result is that if you lose your
concentration it goes to the back of your mind remaining a mere
background.
Well that is my review.
I, for one, am subscribing to this feed.
regards,
Brij.
I like the "infomercial" format mixed with a fireside chat.  I also like
the way that she discusses the mother-daughter weight issue and the way
it's also tied into women's changing roles.  This issue of weight and
anger shows up in SHE'S COME UNDONE by Wally Lamb.  I love the "no
dieting" no time limits no guilt factor philosophy.  Minute by minute.
It's a very simple common sense approach.  Her antidiet approach has
nothing missing.
I love the energy of this podcast.  That's what's missing in traditional
diet programs.  I like the meal plans but I'd appreciate some exercises
first to start the podcast.  I like the french fries tips--just have it as
a meal.  (The Canadians do with oil and vinegar.)  The very music helps
energize you.  You're getting up and moving.  Her "eat the craving"
approach is consistent.  I'm getting hungry listning to her recipe for
salmon.  Yowza.  There aren't any problems.  This is all common sense
stuff.
Busy moms, WAHM moms, working moms can be reached by Marina.  This is so
much easier than all those programs that take hours and hours to listen to
or watch.
scale, and I'd be grateful for some tests and feedback.
Now you can write a comment while listening to the podcast on the web page.
I've put up a poll for the Eat Feed podcast (details below).
Firstly an apology. The new automated post system has apparently lost the
actual MP3 address from the announcement message. This should now be fixed.
Trying a different format to stir things up, so here are some questions to
start this one going.
Have a look at the website :
http://www.herecomespod.org.uk/cgi-bin/cgirdir.exe?http://www.marinaspodcast.com\
and listen to the two podcasts:
The Walking Aerobics
http://www.marinaspodcast.com/pods/walking-aerobics/MARINA-hnf-WA-07.mp3
Now, questions from your own perspective - whether a newbie or a long-term
workout-a-holic.
If you do "gym" - what is missing that you would expect?
What does Marina need to change to make the process easier?
Are there any problems?
What groups can be reached by podcasting workout programmes who could not
normally be addressed by Marina?
Extracting the relevant info from my overall comments:
I have launched a service to publicise podcasts for members of
podcast-review.
This may also be helpful for those of you who have problems with RSS feeds..
If you enter your podcast into this form:
http://www.herecomespod.org.uk/submit-member-podcast.html
It will appear in the "Members' Atelier" about 2-6 hours later on this
webpage (complete with flash player and download link):
http://www.herecomespod.org.uk/members/
The Members' Atelier Podcast Feed is here:
http://www.herecomespod.org.uk/members/members-enc.xml
Time delay from submission to appearance should be 2-6 hours if you are an
established member (it is moderated by email address).
One thing to note: the flash player requires an audio-sample rate of 11.025,
22.050 or 44.100 kHz - if not you sound like a record at the wrong speed. If
you don't know your speed, try one and see.
I expect this to take a little tuning, but it has the potential to give a
nice, mixed feed.
Subject: Survey: My thoughts and Changes to List
julianduk
Offline Offline
Send Email Send Email
Having been through the data, my brief thoughts are below.
---------------------------------------------
*** Summary:
Accessibility
- Having the service available through web, list and RSS is working well.
The numbers are well spread between listeners via RSS vs Email vs Website -
more so because this survey went via the list. All are necessary.
Publicity:
- There is clearly a need and opportunity for more visibility via websites
and podcasts.
- Personal invites work very well.
Comments:
* The list is generally working well - though quietly.
* The lack of chatter is appreciated, but we'd like a lot more review
activity. This is key.
* The "selection by moderators" has worked so far, but is due for a change.
We need a wider range of people finding interesting podcasts for the group.
* The video podcast comments were evenly divided, so I'm leaving this alone
for the time being (and creating a separate "Vodcast" site). As an
alternative I have set up some video services via the website. See the menu
on the site.
Comments not addressed here will be addressed on the PodcastPro blog at
www.herecomespod.org.uk/podcastpro/
----------------------------------------------------
*** Changes to list
To encourage more input and comments:
1 - Open up and broaden the list more. I need more people to initiate
reviews.
I'm looking for about another 5-20 volunteers to join the moderation team.
You don't need a lot of time (I have an almost automatic process), nor do
you need to post a podcast for review very regularly. What you do need is an
enthusiasm for listening to podcasts. If there were some people with special
interests (kids, social issues, politics, poetry, cars.) that would be
great. Please email me (or I might invite some people). There are some
resources in place to help
you.
2 - Encourage wider conversation - but not too wide. This is a balance.
Let's try it and see.
3 - (Now done) Open up the comments on the Review web page so that people
listening
there can make a comment directly. This is a half way house to a rating
system. I'll also put a link in to the email group by each entry on the web
page.
4 - (In process) Have a crack at some sort of rating scheme. Yahoo polls
would be ideal -
and I'd just put the entire "New Review" email in the announcement, but the
damn things don't let me set the subject line (can anyone help here?), so
they will all have the same title with no mention of the different podcasts
for review - useless.
So this one is going to be driven from the entry for the podcast on the
webpage - with a link there in the email. The software is out there, but
this is going to take a couple of weeks to do.
5 - (Done) Do some promotional links with the people who have volunteered.
Site is
being restructured to this end. There are various buttons and players here:
http://www.herecomespod.org.uk/sitenews/
This includes my unique "button that plays a promo", that people keep asking
me about.
I am also implementing Blogrolling.com blogrolls on each section so you can
add each part of the website to your own BlogRoll if you have a blog.
6 - Introduce some new services for members on the website. These will be
for people in the group.
   a Web page and RSS feed where you can publicise each new podcast you
release. This is live and you can add your new podcasts here:
http://www.herecomespod.org.uk/submit-member-podcast.html
The "Members' Atelier" of Members New podcasts is here:
http://www.herecomespod.org.uk/members/
The Podcast Feed is here:
http://www.herecomespod.org.uk/members/members-enc.xml
Time delay from submission to appearance should be 2-6 hours if you are an
established member (it is moderated by email address).
   b.. Directory of members' podcasts - including a global location map.
7 - Encourage you guys to use the Yahoo invite facility, which is amazingly
effective if used with people who have asked publicly for help in podcasting
already - 70%+ of those I invite have joined. It hardly ever works when used
cold.
Please use this where appropriate.
Podcast Review,
I am new here to the group so I figured I would introduce myself. I am
known on the air as "Jiggy Jaguar", my name is James Lowe. I have been
involved in broadcasting since 1993. I have been involved in every
aspect of broadcasting from doing shows on tape and then working for a
few local radio stations. I ventured into online casting in 2000 with
Mycaster.com and others and did pre-recorded shows{early podcast idea}
and then moved into Live broadcasting to being syndicated online with
7 stations carrying my show. In 2001, I became the #1
broadcaster/talkjockey at a site known as alternacast.com I moved onto
doing more casting with my streaming station, KJAG Radio. In 2004 I
came to being involved with another broadcaster named Frank Cotolo and
we ended up with 20+ stations carrying our live show/podcasted show. I
have also an online magazine called "The Mic" and I operate KUBC Radio
which is a co-promotion with Evor.com to sell unsigned artists cd's
and make their music avail to the public threw our stream on
kubcradio.com.. I have recently done alot in the area of podcasting,
it's easier than a live broadcast and is geared toward more
podcasting, I do interviews with bands to sports stars to celebs to
having people contribute to my broadcast, Linda Robin{Wrestling
writer}, Big BOB{Fellow podcaster}, Matt from Florida{Fellow
alternacaster and frequent co-host}.
I am very excited to be a part of the group and look forward to doing
more in the area of Podcast review. There are alot of good podcasters
out there. Any comments or questions can be sent to me at
Thanks,
James Lowe
We get the vegetarian perspective on soup and a recipe for Black Bean Soup
from my friend Liz Borkowski at Co-op America.
For all those winter ailments, I offer my Spicy Garlic Mexican Soup.
And for something else to do to pass those long winter nights and to create
something amazing to unveil in the spring, Rob Hanson offers a primer for
home brewing as well as recipes for a Basic Homebrew, Kolsch, Brown Ale, and
Belgian Blond Ale. For getting started on homebrewing, check out Rob's
resources. And when you get stuck, he says you can email him. Ask Rob your
homebrew question.
While you're waiting for your own batch of beer, Rob recommends some beers
to pair with our soups. Pale Ale with Huku ne Dovi, Rauchbier with Black
Bean Soup, Negra Modello with Spicy Garlic Mexican Soup.
I'll be putting out two podcasts for review
     Eat Feed - all about lunch.
     Marina's Workout Podcast - all about dealing with the problems caused by
too much lunch.
There were a few suggestions in the survey that we should look at subjects
around the podcast itself.
These are both good opportunities to do this, as they have tightly coupled
supporting websites and tie in to wider activity than straight podcasting.
If you would like to take a look in advance, the web addresses are:
Julian
