The problem I have had with Drupal is that every time they release a new version you have to re-build your site. The modules are great but I could never find a developer to skin the site for me.

Todd,

Thats a good question??  I haven't had much time to mess with the skinning but i went over to TWIT.tv and they have enclosures in their feeds on the previous version.  I am guessing its a module (like a plugin in wordpress), but i will check it out and get back to you.  As for the skinning, i know it can be done but never bothered to learn it, since i am only at the experimental level right now.  Too busy to dig down deep, but i know that recently their main target was to make it easier to use.

I have installed a couple modules:
ecommerce module
media player modue

For those looking for a new CMS (Content mgt System) with lots and lots of support and modules (add ons) I recommend you check out the newest Beta for Drupal at Drupal.org.  They put a lot of work into it and its much easier to install too.  The conversion of all the modules might take a little time since the new version isnt backward compatible with 5.0.

I did some research yesterday on how to skin it and it doesnt look too hard but its not as easy as wordpress.  The consulation is that its fully customizable.  The upgrading of versions has been addressed in this upgrade and possible one version before it (if i remember correctly).  Its true there arent many people that can do more then install it and add modules.

I installed it yesterday and messed with it for about an hour.  This is what turned out.  I used the stock theme and just put random information all over the page as you can see (LOL).  The thing i like about drupal is that you can put "Blocks" on any part of the page: left, right, center, bottom (you can see the right side blocks i put on the page).

I also used a link to Todds podcast to see if the feed will grab it. I gave up messing with it after about an hour because it was really late and i had to get up early.  Enjoy the outcome below...

So I finally got several of my video podcast up on Soapbox and wanted
to share the link so you can view for yourself how it is being
displayed. Because it's still in beta it is only viewable by those
with a Windows Live ID (formerly Passport) or those with an MSN or
Hotmail email address. After beta the video page link will become live
to everyone. They also just sent out several thousand invites again
today.

Aloha kakou, first I wanted to say mahalo to all of you who played
music from Kenneth Makuakane's new CD, we've been getting great
response. The CD is now starting to show up in the retail chain in
greater numbers. It was available in limited quantity at only a few
locations up until this past week, but is now broadly available.

Second, I wanted to let you all know that I will have a new track from
Keali'i Reichel for you all next week - it is a mele I composed
entitled "Ke Aloha Kalikimaka" and is on his upcoming Christmas
release "Maluhia". Maluhia is scheduled for release on Nov. 14, but
can be pre-ordered at Mele.com and on Amazon.com as well. For those of
you that have already played music from Kenneth and from Darrell
Aquino, I already have your email addresses and will point you to the
file when it is available for podcast. If anyone else in the group
would like to feature it, email me and I'll add you to the list.

Checking out a recommendation from podCast411, I found an awesome new
Mac OS X podcasting client: Xcast.

http://www.getxcast.com/

Be sure to view the introductory screencast.

The iTunes/iPod-aversive will probably not be as jazzed about Xcast as
I am. Nonetheless Xcast, like iLike, takes iTunes well beyond what
Apple will ever likely do.

The iTMS is featuring "The Vloggies: Award Winners" on the main page right now. An entire block is dedicated to it just below the Submit a Podcast button.

Will be curious to see if this bumps traffic?

Hi Ryan:

I submitted my feed as well and I'm impressed by the sound quality-much better than I expected.

However, 8 hours after submitting a recent podcast, it hasn't shown up as the most recent show.

Maybe there are daily updates. I sent an e-mail to them asking a few questions.

Anyway, here is my Podlinez number: +1-415-376-7216

All the best,

Andrew

Get a number for your podcast, so listeners can hear you from
anywhere on a cellular or home phone. Presumably in the future
there'll be ads thrown in, but hey, it's podcast listening without a
computer or audio player! For example, I submitted HawaiiUP and got
+1 (415) 376-7246.

Hi Ryan:

Here's an update on Podlinez:

My newest podcast is now playing (posted about 10 hours ago). It's interesting that the sound seems to just cut out on the beginning. Must be the way that the conversion is handled with some music as it fades out.

All the best,

Andrew

Podcasting is hot, social networking is hotter, why not mix the two?

http://www.podjournals.com

Concept is simple enough. Make podcasting many-to-many or many-to-one
as well as just one-to-many. But this is a very Mac-centric
offering, requiring an OSX client (1.4 or later) and a .Mac account.
Talk about limiting your userbase. Here's my take:

http://www.lightfantastic.org/imr/extras/weblog/archives/004117.html

There are open, web-based, podcast-focused services that have the
same idea, I'm certain. (Heck, a multi-user blog at Blogger.com
pointing to freely hosted media at Internet Archive would have a
similar end result.) Todd's Blubrry.com, perhaps?

Ryan

P.S. Crossposted to Bytemarks and HAP... Apologies for duplicates!

Andrew, Dolly, or anyone else who's curious about cell phones as a
delivery channel for podcasts...

My post on Podlinez turned up on Technorati, and a couple of people
(one podcaster and I think one PR person) came by to invite me to
check out VoiceIndigo:

http://www.voiceindigo.com/

I'd forgotten about them, which is interesting, because one of their
"example" podcasts is "The Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack," friends
of mine.

It works differently from Podlinez, as initial contact is set up on
the web. Click through from a podcast page, give 'em your cell number
and e-mail address, and they send you an SMS with a way to download
the latest episode. You can also "subscribe," meaning I guess that
you can get additional SMS messages when the next bit of media turns
up on the feed. Clicking a link in the SMS takes you to a phone-
optimized page with the item description, artwork, and link to the
media. There you can click to download and/or play the media file in
your phone's media player. If it's an advanced podcast, it even
breaks down the chapters into quick links.

It isn't quite as simple as Podlinez, but if you're already
comfortable with downloading media from the web on your smartphone,
VoiceIndigo is a pretty snazzy service. I guess it depends on which
is better for your phone plan -- downloading 5MB media files, or a 40
minute call. :)

Aloha Fellow Hawaii Podcasters,

My good buddy has some podsafe music he wants people to play on their podcasts.  Here is the link http://music.podshow.com/music/listeners/searchResults.php?SearchString=cyrusfx

If you want give it a listen or a play on your podcast and support a local electronica artist (Drum and Bass??).  He is also on myspace myspace.com/cyrusfx

Does he have a link to the music any other place than the podsafe music network as I don’t play music from that site due to their reporting requirements?
