One thing that grows extremely well under black walnuts is Ostrich Fern.  The fiddleheads are delicious in Spring.  It can be very expansive, so harvesting is a good idea.

What kinds of nuts, fruits, vegetables, or herbs can grow under black walnut trees. We have alot of these growing on our land....
