Celebrate Earth Day with the Montgomery County Sierra Club at the
Underground Railroad Experience Trail on Saturday, April 11 from 9:30
a.m. to noon. Dr. Jenny Masur of the National Park Service will
discuss the history of the Underground Railroad in the DC area. Dr.
Masur is the National Capitol Region Manager for the National
Underground Railroad Network to Freedom. She will highlight some of
the personalities in Montgomery County, locations, and methods of
escape through the Underground Railroad system. We will then remove
invasive plant species and restore this historically important park
to plant communities typical of the mid-1800s. Tools are limited so
please bring clippers, saws, and loppers. Long sleeves, pants,
gloves, comfortable walking shoes or boots, and water are
recommended. 16501 Norwood Road, Sandy Spring, MD. More information
