Its the first time I'm aware of a difference between the result of clicking an
active button vs using a window show menu for task switching.

Sorry about that, I'm on WinXP SP3 and Firefox 3.5. And, yes, Notepad does work. Using active buttons on a bar also works as well. I think I've traced down...
