Instead of doing the package to the CD, do it to a folder and then move that folder to the flash drive. To do this, go to File--> Package for CD like normal....

I find text shadows very annoying and usually prefer not to use them. I have several PPT files where I have gone to each slide and turned off the tesxt shadow....
