On Monday, March 27th, Agile Denver welcomes Alan Shalloway, Net
Objectives' CEO and Senior Consultant. Since 1981, he has been both an
OO consultant and developer of software in several industries. Alan is a
frequent speaker at prestigious conferences around the world, including:
SD Expo, Java One, OOP, and OOPSLA. He is the primary author of Design
Patterns Explained: A New Perspective on Object-Oriented Design and is
currently co-authoring three other books in the software development
area. He is a certified Scrum Master and has a Masters in Computer
Science from M.I.T. Alan concentrates his training and coaching in Lean
Software Development, Design Patterns, and Agile Software.
Monday's meeting will begin at 5:00 PM with a slightly abbreviated
version of Alan's seminar "Design Patterns in an Agile (even XP)
Environment". Attendees will learn:
- A different view of Agile development
- What Emergent Design is
- What the Object-Pool Pattern is
- Why following principles and practices is more important than
following rote doctrine
- Synthesize the seemingly disparate views of test-driven-development
and design patterns

This will be followed by a 30 minute break for refreshments and to
accommodate late arrivals. Alan will complete the evening with his
second talk at 6:30 PM, "The Business Case for Agility: The Lean-Agile
Connection". Alan will drill into the seven principles of Lean Software
development and the Lean-Agile Connection.
