Monday 2/26, Greg Pearman "Being Agile in a Non-Agile Space"   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #232 of 235 |
This coming Monday, February 26th, Agile Denver will host guest speaker
Greg Pearman. Please plan to join Greg in kicking off our 2007 schedule.
He will share real world experiences and solutions for "Being Agile in a
Non-Agile Space."

Do you find yourself in a "less than ideal" software development work
environment? Maybe you are working for a company that talks about being
Agile but in reality isn't.

Greg will discuss ways to stay Agile, even if those around you don't
embrace Agile software development values or practices.

The meeting will be held at the PPA Event Center near Downtown Denver.
Doors open at 6:00pm for networking and refreshments.

AGENDA:

6:00 - 6:30 PM Refreshments, networking and announcements
6:30 - 8:00 PM Greg Pearman presentation

SPEAKER

Greg "Hap" Pearman has over 19 years experience in developing enterprise
software solutions. He is the co-author of "Pro .NET Extreme
Programming" from Apress.

Formally a senior architect and developer at Qwest Communications, Hap
was a leading member of an elite team that developed and implemented
Extreme Programming (XP) practices for the entire Qwest IT organization.
This experience gave Hap the unique opportunity to stress test XP under
multiple and varying circumstances as an XP coach and mentor.

Hap has also developed small and large enterprise systems using
technologies such as J2EE, .NET (C#) and C++ for such companies as
ABC/Disney, Hertz, VeriSign, IBM, EPA, U S WEST Direct and Multum
Information Systems.

He is currently a senior developer with British Telecom and CIO of
Spotted Dog Software.

SPONSOR

The February 2007 meeting is sponsored by British Telecom's local Web21C
development team.

BT is undergoing a complete transformation. At the heart of this
transformation is our £10 billion 21st century network (21CN)
initiative. An IP-based, multi-service network, 21CN is the driver for a
radical change.

As part of this change, we are kicking off a ground-breaking project,
code-named Web21C. In Phase I, BT has begun to expose a number of
capabilities to developers such as yourselves. WeÂ’re in the early
stages. There’s a lot more functionality—powerful, low cost
functionality—to come.

We want your help. In this Developer Centre, we introduce the Web21C SDK
beta, for .NET (Visual Studio), Java, Python and PHP. Check out the
components of our SDK. Tell us whatÂ’s missing. Tell us whatÂ’s bad. Tell
us whatÂ’s good. Make some free phone calls!

See http://web21c.bt.com/ for more information.

DIRECTIONS

We will be meeting at the PPA Event Center near downtown Denver. The PPA

sizes, each with an independent sound system to ensure quality
acoustics. These systems can be operated separately, or combined for
large presentations.

The Event Center address is 2105 Decatur Street, Denver, Colorado 80211.
Parking is free. For directions see the MapQuest link or the PPA site
below, or call (303) 433-8247 for additional details.
