Gold was declared the metal of the gods.  Since they were the first to mine it
early on then the people respected it only because the gods valued it.  Later
other ancient cavitations: Aztecs, Mayans etc did too.  Temples were lined with
it gifts of it were  given to the gods long after they had left.  The people
didn't value it for themselves.  When the Spanish came to conquer them they
brought the gold to them freely for they looked like the gods and believed them
to have returned.

So it was always used in the honoring of all gods by all nations even into
Biblical times.

I first heard about Planet X on Art Bell - seems that there are a lot like me
right now.  This really has me worried and wondering what I can do to help
myself and you know I'd like to be a part of a group who works together to
survive.

I moved from the east coast and a nice farm to Portland, OR a year ago and HATE
it, so I'm deciding where to move where I will be happy - then this comes along.
So I've picked some spots where I have lived and wonder if anyone can tell me if
they are good or bad choices so I can further make my decision with respect to
Planet X (moving this spring after my two horses sell in Florida).  I love
Boise, Idaho.  I love Wisconsin.  I could do OK in Cincinatti, Ohio.  How about
Minnesota or North Dakota  (WI, MN and ND are my favorites for good, plain,
honest people but I hated the 40 degrees below zero in Fargo!)  I'm wanting to
get back to what life used to be about - does it exist anywhere anymore?

I have purchased Blindsided (or something like that) and hope it will fill me in
more.  If anyone lives in any of these areas and wants to e-mail me, I'd love to
meet some of you.

THE Chinese government gave the euro its much-coveted seal of approval
yesterday, announcing that it would switch part of its vast dollar reserves into
the world's emerging "reserve currency".

Chinese finance minister Xiang Huaicheng said the flawless launch of notes and
coins had swept away the lingering doubts about monetary union and opened the
way for a recovery on the exchange markets.

"I will instruct the responsible authorities that they should not just have a
currency basket but rather that they should buy euros as quickly as possible,"
he said after a meeting in Shanghai with the German finance minister, Hans
Eichel.

"It is an inevitable tendency that the euro will become a reserve currency for a
lot of states," he said, predicting that it would regain parity with the dollar.

China has roughly $200 billion (£140 billion) in foreign reserves, the second
largest in the world. A small proportion is believed to be in euros already in
the form of deutschmark and French franc bonds, but a major switch in asset
allocation from dollars to euros could be large enough to influence the currency
markets.

The European Commission said yesterday that it was the political gesture that
really mattered. "What's important is the political signal of confidence that
this transmits, not the volume of money," said monetary affairs spokesman
Gerassimos Thomas.

China and the European Union share a joint suspicion of American "hegemony" in
the global economic system and have been edging towards mutual embrace for
several years. Beijing has a strong interest in promoting a rival currency, but
it has been waiting for clear evidence that the euro is a viable long-term
currency before committing itself.

The Chinese backing for the currency came as a leading consultancy said that the
economic case for Britain entering the euro will weaken in 2002 as UK interest
rates rise and eurozone rates fall sharply.

The Centre for Economic Business Research also said that Britons' increasing
familiarity with the new currency could present an "unusual opportunity for the
UK to have its cake and eat it by staying outside".

It estimates that, by the end of 2002, just over half the UK population will
have used euro notes and coins and that, as a result, the present majority
against joining will erode.

However, CEBR believes the Government is unlikely to call a referendum within
the next 18 months because it says 55pc to 65pc of voters would still come out
against entry.

Here's a story which brought some of this home to me.  We were
watching the Tonight Show with Jay Leno about two weeks before
Christmas.  He took his camera to the mall to find some people to ask
them dumb questions (not related to any of this) around 7pm (I think
it was - evening anyway) on a Friday night.  This is in Beverley
Hills.  And the mall was virtually EMPTY!!!!!!  My husband Michael
said it should have been jam packed.  They showed down whole
corridors - and there was maybe ONE person!!!  I used to be in retail
(never again) and it made my blood run cold - my heart went out to
those poor, poor retailers, who still have to pay huge rentals.

How did you determine that this is fast?

As I looked at the animation, I kept thinking of how Pluto was
discovered...not the mathmatical portion, but by watching the time
lapsed film.  How it moved against the "stationary" stars.  You and I
both know that the motion of planets are shown this way.  But a star,
even a "non" star like a brown dwarf to move that far that quickly..
   I may be reading more into it than I should, but seeing that kind
of startled me.  One, it showed the image growing larger in each
frame. Two, that kind of movement to me is unprecedented(at least in
the journals I have read).  When I think of those reasons, and
contemplate on PX and it's movement, I tend to take PX even more
seriously now. Unless I misjudged the frames, the growing image is in
the same starfield each time.

Don't get me wrong here.  The article is a very straight forward
piece for science and the general public.  But when you consider the
articles written before on the discovery of "the largest asteroid" in
the area of our Solar System, a discovery that originally had a
reddish tinge to it, and now is blue, and was originally thought of
as either a planet or a brown dwarf, and is now called an asteroid,
and the fact that scientist, the government and astronomers are
leading the general public in another direction, away from the
original location of the "discovery" of the mysterious color changing
object on the fringe of the Sol system, I just feel that this is
another article that can and will divert attention from the real
problem we will face.

are not alone - there are many, including myself that have

Hmmm, well, here's what I would suggest you do.

Take the vehicle you now own and sell it.  Put the money you
get for it towards your debt.  Buy another vehicle on one of
those "no payments 'til 2003" deals - something practical
that you can use to haul around stuff in, as you prepare for
your shelter/provisions.  I would sell anything in your
possession that is not absolutely critical to your survival
until 2003. That means the tv, too
(brainwashing/distracting/mind-numbing/catharsis-inducing).
Use your computer to get your daily fix of news if you must,
although the news is as much of a distraction as the tv,
watch a movie via your computer once in awhile if you must
have a movie fix :o)  In short, any money you make by
selling your stuff can be put towards your debt.  Get into
"survival thinking" mode.  This will make all this much
easier to do.  Then, do what  you can to prepare.  You can
keep your job, deal with lower payments and if things are
still rosey in '03, you will still have your good credit, if
not - you did the right thing.

built - was perhaps in on building it or something - and he
could not find it!  There was a fence all around the area he
thought it was in and was told that the area was government
property and that no one was allowed to go in there.

Now, why would they hide an observatory?  Obviously, the
Vatican does not want it to be known what they are up to.

I`m still somewhat sceptical,,on this thing,,am I saying no way it
can happen ,,no,, I just remember y2k,, I had it demostrated to me,,
I was invovled in rebuilding machines that did not pass,,so y2k was
real to me,,,and ,,,nothing bad happened,, now we have something I
cannot see ,feel , or hear,, with someone elses word for what is
supposed to happen,,,and there has been many things over time, that
was supposed to happen,,but ,,didn`t ,,while I`m not going bananas
over this,, I am gonna keep an eye on it,,when I can see it in the
sky or an ametuer astronomer can point it out,,then I will top off my
preps,,for those just getting started in preping,,, you got alot to
do,, even if nothing happens,, alot of preps will carry over to many
other more common happenings,,blizzards, tornadoes ect,, so it will
not be a waste per say,,just my 2 cents for the night,,,,,

There's another reason to prepare - you get to be self sufficient, so
you can ride out the coming depression.

If you are living simply, growing your own food and have reduced your
desires, the depression won't worry you anywhere near as much as it
will others.

There have been devestations throughout history.  They began 13,500
years ago. when the first major cataclysm destroyed the Motherland,
Lemuria. This effected the solar system blowing up a planet and throwing
another out of orbit. People like to think everything they see has been

Someone sent me an email containing information about what they called
"Death Star 2003." The premise of the message is that a brown dwarf star
first discovered in 1981 and confirmed by the Hubble Telescope represents a
threat to life on earth. Called 'Planet X', it is purported to be moving
close enough to earth to compete with the gravitational pull of the sun. The
message and link suggest the resulting gravitational pull will include 200
mph winds, widespread, catastrophic seismic disturbances like violent
earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, culminating a 90 degree shift in the
polar axis, making the northern United States the new equator and killing
three quarters of mankind. The email also suggested a conspiracy by NASA to
conceal Planet X to avoid widespread panic, as it is due to pass close
enough to Earth to destroy three quarters of life on earth in June, 2003. I
assumed this was more conspiracist nonsense until I began to dig a little.
What I discovered was disturbing, to say the least.

Your glib commentary (lol) was appreciated, although I wouldn't say that the
new people are not serious - they just need more information, and it will be
provided to them here if they need it.  I still want to see lots of good
discussions about everything from everyone - even those who are on the prep
list should be here - just no survival talk - that deserves a category all
of its own.

Hi all,

Welcome to the new lists :o)  I'm sure they will grow quickly once everyone
knows about them.  I am working on sending out 2000+ emails to all the members
advising them of the changes in case they are not yet aware of what is going on.

Just for clarification, the prep2003prep list is for survival preparation
discussions only.

The discussion list is set up for old and new members alike, so questions can be
posed and answered about everything except survival prep.
