By the way, I have problems with hotspots like tmobile and att as
well. most of the time it's interference from other AP's. Another
funny thing with the Cisco AP's that tmobile and att use is that the
AP will sometimes start ignoring a connected client for some unknown
reason.

Sometimes just reseating the antenna connector helps a lot, especially
if they are nickel or gold. I have to remove and reconnect the nickel
antenna connectors on mine every once in a while.

it is a nuisance removing the pcmcia-card so would rather keep using the original I have other Progears in parts so will try another card with one of those ...

... I've used a hub with the Linux ProGear with a wifi device, keyboard and mouse plugged in to the hub w/o problem. Doesn't 98 require a driver for the hub?...
