Yesterday, Sept. 30, the local daily San Juan Star published a piece on biotechnology in Puerto Rico. Here's what it had to say about biotech ag:
"The island is also attracting agricultural biotechnology companies that are turning parcels of farmland over to genetically modified crops like corn and soybeans... the companies involved in developing crops with herbicide and insect resistant traits or transgenic plants include Dow, Sygenta Seeds, Pioneer HiBred, Mycogen Seeds, Rice Tech, AgReliant Genetics, Bayer Cropscience and Monsanto..."
