Welcome to the Ptolemy-Hackers mailing list. This list is for
discussions of the Ptolemy software, and applications using Ptolemy.
If you have a question, think you've found a bug, or would like to
share a Ptolemy application, then please send your mail to
ptolemy-hackers@ptolemy.eecs.berkeley.edu. Also, if you know the
answer to a question posted here, please respond to help out your
fellow user.
If you ever wish to be removed from ptolemy-hackers, send mail to
ptolemy-hackers-request@ptolemy.eecs.berkeley.edu with the word
"unsubscribe" in the body (not the subject) of the mail message.
Policies
========
If email to you starts bouncing, you will soon be dropped from the
list. You'll have to resubscribe when you get the problem fixed, and
retrieve the archives to find out what you missed.
Archives
========
All messages to the list are archived. The archives are available via
Majordomo, our mailing list manager, using the "get" command. Send
"help" in the body of a message to: Majordomo@ptolemy.eecs.berkeley.edu
for more information. The archives are broken down by year and month,
and are stored in files named "ptolemy-hackers.YYMM". Archive files
are also available from the ptolemy.eecs.berkeley.edu ftp site in the
"pub/ptolemy/mailing-lists/ptolemy-hackers.archive" directory.

It's not clear to me exactly what you want, but ExpressionToToken (in the Conversions library) will convert strings in Matlab syntax to matrices. E.g., "[1,
