Hi,

I have a Rainbow Portal 1.x installation. Under one of the
DesktopModules, I can access the page without logging in to the portal.

I thought PortalSettings.CurrentUser.Identity.IsAuthenticated return
false and thus would stop the user from accessing the page (without
logging in to the Portal), but it seems it can be accessed and the
PortalSettings.CurrentUser.Identity.IsAuthenticated returns true.

Am I missing some thing?

Your prompt response would be very highly appreciated.

THNX

Hi ,

    I am playing with rainbow portal 2.0 . I created tab in Root . I
gave Static link (virtual path to the page) to that Tab I created in
navigational Settings in Page Name and Layout page. When I click
Apply changes , I am getting page error .

My questions are :

1. Rainbow portal always looking in DesktopModules\Pages\ folder for
the page I mentioned in Static Link . How do I change setting to
look from root of application , not Desktopmodules\pages folder.

2. Are there any documentation for this page functionality.

3. Did any of you implemented AJAX in Rainbow Portal 2.0 . I am
planning to use AJAX Page methods in Rainbow 2.0 .if there is any
documentation implementing AJAX in rainbow , please direct me link /
wen site I can documentation on this.

I appreciate your help in this regard.

Thank You,
Ponnapati.

 For those of you that for some reason dont think google will continue to make a better product at google code, I direct you to their new functionality.  They will continue to make the source code easier to browse and see all the new changes AND Ive talked to a googler about making the wiki easier from all the complaints.

http://code.google.com/p/rainbow/source/list    - checkout/browse/search

I would highlight search as you can use this to discover some of the new ASPNET 2.0 feature implementations we have done.  You will notice that very intense implementations ( based on standards from M$) were created just for rainbow.

We need some help in gutting the fat and restoring what made rainbow awesome just on the 2.0 framework.  Have to realize that 3.5 is here and the release date of Server 2008/Sql Server 2008 is officially tomorrow.

The upload.aspx.cs file is in the "FCK.filemanager" folder
under "app_support" and I thought the "Link -- Web Page Dialog" came
from the "aspnet_client\FCK" folder.

I am fairly new to supporting the Portal here and I may be mis-
understanding what is actually going on though. I have tried to find
documentation on the Portal but have always been interrupted by what
my managers consider higher priorities. I'm supposed to be
supporting/modifying the Portal but not learn about it. I'm sure
everyone knows how that goes though.

Just looks like the code is looking for FCK and is not finding it.  Are you using this component?  I would disable its use via the portal settings.

Yes.  Remove it from your web page.

Once the user views an image, it resides on their machine.

I only get the error when I have moved the code to the server. It
works great on my workstation localhost.

I have set the folder security to allow "NETWORK SERVICE", "Asp Net",
and my userid to have full authority in Windows Explorer as well as
in the IIS instance.

Rainbow Version is 1.6.0.1879

The problem has been solved with help from the Rainbow Portal
Community on their site. The problem was that the default.aspx.cs
file had been inadvertantly overlaid.

Thanks much for all the help.

Try one of the following checks.  When rainbow loads it tries to determine the correct portal to load.
A few ways it is determined include

1:  in web.config, you specify the default portal.
2:  from the rb_Portals database table.  The portalAlias matches your domain name.

Thanks

This is thought as a low volume list. It carries only important
things like new releases, critical bugs, vulnerabilities. For
people who want to stay informed but without the noise of
other lists.

Team is growing.
According to from Rahul's Team Structure and Purpose we need our own Community Team .

Community Team
The Community team is incharge of our mailing lsits, forums, blogs, and any community related sites. It's job is to ensure the extended community runs smoothly and is informed about our progress so that customers feel confident about our process and our software.

At the moment the team consists of only Yannick Smits that is the moderator of http://community.rainbowportal.net/ and me that manages rainbowportal@googlegroups.com.
Also we have rainbowportal@yahoogroups.com list that is used rarely and can be considered as legacy.
Also, Rahul organized developers dedicated communication in AguaFrame BaseCamp (btw what is Agua?).
Please correct me immediately if I am wrong.

The following correspondence remarks is related to the sphere of activity of this team.

there should be 4 lists: rainbow-announce, rainbow-users, rainbow-dev
and rainbow-logs, where rainbow-logs carries all the automatically generated
stuff like subversion, build and test logs.
"list" means mailing list with web interface and rss access.

It won't make it more complex, but more simple for newbies to filter the messages flow.

You can consider me as temporary leader of communication team, until someone volunteer to take this vacant role.
I am going to perform some actions to get it to first base from standstill.
It will be done in nearest twenty-four hours, feedbacks and remarks are accepted during this time.
1. Create the following standard maillists :
* rainbow-announce@googlegroups.com with purpose of:
** mkkforen, please, help me to define ;) (new releases?)
* rainbow-users@googlegroups.com with purpose of:
** end user communication;
** support;
** http://comnmunity.rainbowportal.net/ notifications from users forums;
* rainbow-devepolers@googlegroups.com with purpose of:
** developers real communication
** basecamp notifications (?)
** http://comnmunity.rainbowportal.net/ notifications from developers forums (?);
* rainbow-logs@googlegroups.com with purpose of:
** developers automails from source control, integration etc.

It includes both web interface and rss, as required.

2. Setting the following men to managers of these lists
* moudrick as organizer
* anantatman as project manager
* ramseur as project manager
* mkkforen as the one who understand
3. Invite the whole cc: list of these messages to every of these newly created lists.
4. Moving all logs sendings (svn, cruisecontrol, etc) to rainbow-logs@googlegroups.com
5. Advertise these actions in the whole community by all channels listed above in the beginning of the post, with invitation to register in the new lists.

Further steps to contribute by community team leader volunteer are (to be published in my blog):

1. Community forums organization.
* Move all notifications to appropriate maillists.
* Moderation
2. Maillists organization and management
* Adjust access & feature member rights
* Approve/decline pending membership requests
3. Developers communication organization.
* BaseCamp, Rahul's activity area.
4. Find and close unneeded, obsolete and possibly legacy community channels (?)
* update appropriate links and mentions at http://rainbowportal.net/
* yahoogroups
* disable legacy codehostings (in collaboration with Source Control Team)
* sourceforge
* novell forge

Well, look at http://code.google.com/p/rainbow/issues/list
What does "Owner" mean? In my understanding this is the one who is currently
working on the issue. So a name should not appear more than once - except
when the issues are directly related.

The whole "community" setup is rather confusing, currently. In my opinion
there should be 4 lists: rainbow-announce, rainbow-users, rainbow-dev
and rainbow-logs, where rainbow-logs carries all the automatically generated
stuff like subversion, build and test logs.
"list" means mailing list with web interface and rss access.
Everything else should disappear (and not linger around), including
all the existing
forums.

I also think that the subversion repository setup is rather complicated. There
should be "devint" with trunk, tags and branches. And sandboxes, where
every developer can create a work branch when he thinks it is necessary.
I don't think that there are enough resources to manage more.
