It is interesting to note that connecting a resistive load momentarily across a
battery causes
the same sort of over-voltage and ringing as the Couper circuit. I have managed
1 MHz
pulsing using this approach; the extra speed being possible as there is no time
needed to
charge an inductor or capacitor, and the resulting circuit is very simple.

here is a link to a radio-shack non-inductive resistor http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062288 useful for a resistive pulser....
