What it needs is not just me alone testing the resistive approach, for what weight does just one voice carry?...

Andy/ Derek, Fear not I shall join in the testing although I'm currently focusing on building a Stan Meyer cell to the same specification as Scott Cramton. I...

Wonderful, I should soon have all the details on how to modify the courtiers town circuit board; hopefully having it run at 1MHz without getting too hot; I'm...

You'll still be needing the fast 555 if you want to approach the 1MHz mark....

The 555 has a high time t1 and a low time t2 given by: t1 = 0.693 (r1 + r2) c t2 = 0.693 r2 c So for the Couper circuit with r1 = 470 kΩ, r2 = 22 kΩ...

I thought to first try: r1 = 180 k Ohm;, r2 = 10 k Ohm; and c = 27 pF to yield: t1 = 3600 nS t2 = 190 nS this would be 270 kHz operation, and not the full 1MHz...

Andy, Tried this with R1 at 180k, R2 at 10k and C2 at 33pF. Didn't rig my scope up as I ran out of time. I used an LM555N which seemed to be still working. I...

I'm a little surprised your LM555N can manage the 270 kHz, so maybe it is lagging a bit; the TLC555 is not so expensive, so might be worth a try. My prototype...

... Since 33pF seems more common than 27pF, might as well base the design on this R1 = 180k R2 = 10k C = 33pF this yields high time = 4350 nS low time = 230 nS...
