The Hamilton Centre of the RASC is one of 28 non-profit centres across Canada.

Originally founded as the Hamilton Astronomical Society in 1901, and later established as an RASC Centre in 1909, it remains one of the longest standing scientific organizations in the Hamilton region.

The Hamilton Centre has continued throughout its history to dedicate itself towards:

•Stimulating interest and promoting an increased knowledge of astronomy

•Providing access for its members to astronomical instruments and literature

•Publishing and contributing to journals, books and other materials designed to assist its membership and the public

•Encouragement of science education in schools and community groups through public education programs and events

•Monthly general meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month except for July and August. These meetings are open to the public
