Hello.
My refurbed 2762a did the same thing after about 18
months of use. I just ended up getting another
player, a brand new Lyra RD-2763FM, which used to be
on sale at Amazon.com for as low as $39.99 (they've
since gone back up to $169.99).
If you cannot find another battery and want to stay
with RCA, the Opal 8GB mp3 player is only $74.99 at
Walmart.com. I'm thinking about getting one in a few
months, as I'm running out of space on my 5GB 2763FM.
Sorry, I couldn't be any more help to you.
Good luck,
B.L.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded
state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is
much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing
which is more important then his own personal safety, is a miserable creature
and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of
better men then himself." ~ John Stuart Mill, 1806-1873
