Sir,

As an introduction, I was a research scholar at Department of
Hydrology, IIT Roorkee; presently working as Lecturer under
Department of Natural Resources, TERI University. I am looking after
the University Placement Cell as well. As a member of all the three
hydrology groupmails under your moderation, I felt that a posting
would be of immense help for the students of MSc in Water Resources
Management for their 5 months project as well as final placement,
given the learned group it connects worldwide. May I request you to

Greetings from TERI University!

As you might be aware, the Department of Natural Resources at TERI
University is offering three masters programmes- MSc (Environmental
Studies), MSc (Natural Resources Management) and MSc (Water Resources
Management).

These programmes are of 2 years duration with 4 semesters. Between
2nd and 3rd semester i.e. the summer break, students undertake a
minor project, which carries 4 credits. In the 3rd semester, students
specialize in their respective streams i.e. Environmental studies /
Natural Resources Management / Water Resources Management (details of
the courses are available on website www.teriuniversity.ac.in ). The
fourth semester is devoted for a major project, which carries 20
credits and is to be carried out in 5-month duration (1st Jan, 2009 -
30th May, 2009).

The provision of major project aims to widen the student's
perspective by providing an exposure to real life issues related to
conservation, management, policy, and economics of natural resources.
It enables the students to understand and apply the interdisciplinary
relationships to tackle various issues related to environment/natural
resources. Evaluation is based on a project report and open
presentation that the students submit/make at the end of the project.

Past graduates from the University have interned at and been placed
in reputed organizations such as ACC Limited, Bharat Petroleum, ITC,
Grasim, Ecosecurities, ATREE, BILT, Coca Cola, IOCL, NEERI, Senergy
Global, Shree Cement, WWF, UNDP, WINROCK, UNESCO, Emergent Ventures,
WaterAid India, IL&FS Ecosmart, SGS India etc.

The placement process for this academic year has already started in
the newly built campus at 10, Institutional Area, Vasant Kunj. The
objective of this mail to seek your suggestions on possible
employment and/or project assignments in your organization, where you
can involve and guide our students. Brief information regarding the
students' interest and academic backgrounds are presented in the
brochure attached.
