Research position as Junior Research Fellow
(with a possibility to register for Ph.D. degree)
The Institute of Technology (IT) under the aegis of Nirma University
(NU) is ranked 14th amongst top
private universities in India during 2008. The Institute has approx.
3200 student enrolment and 170
faculties under various disciplines of engineering & technology. The
NU provides innovative and
interdisciplinary research environment for budding professionals.
The Department of Civil Engineering is engaged in research, academic
and consultancy services in
various fields including water resources engineering, GIS and remote
sensing, soft-computing and
artificial intelligence. The Department has received research grant
from Department of Space,
Government of India for undertaking flood forecasting and mapping
research in lower Tapi basin
(Gujarat) for a period of 2-years with possible extension for 1-more
year from financial year 2008-09.
Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Fellow in
above research project under the
guidance of Dr.-Ing. A. K. Singh, Professor at Civil Engineering
Department. The project involves
intensive use of GIS and remote sensing data products, hydrologic and
hydraulic models, and softcomputing
tools. The research outcome will led to development of flood
forecasting methodology and
delineation of flood risk maps under data uncertain conditions.
The post of JRF carries remuneration of Rs. 14000/- per month for
first year and Rs. 15,500/- for
subsequent years. The candidate should preferably have master's
degree in water resources
engineering OR GIS & remote sensing from a reputed university. The
qualifications can be relaxed for
deserving candidates if found suitable. This position is vacant and
can be filled immediately.
