The Indian Association of Hydrologists (IAH) is a non profit making scientific
organization dedicated to serving the science of hydrology and water resources
(Established in 1977) with its secretariat at National Institute of Hydrology,
Roorkee. As you are aware that the issues relating to climate change have a
major impact on water resources therefore there is an urgent need to study
various aspects of climate change and water resources in India. IAH is
oragnising a National Symposium on "Climate change and water resources in India"
during 18-19 November 2009 at NIH, Roorkee.

Topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to :

* Climate modeling & downscaling techniques
* Trend analysis in hydro-meteorological variables
* Climate change and impact on surface water
* Climate change and impact on ground water
* Climate change and impact on water quality
* Climate change and agriculture/land use
* management
* Wetland ecology & management in changing climate
* Snowmelt runoff and impact of Climate change
* Sea level rise and effect on coastal aquifer
* Remote sensing and GIS application in Water
* Resources
* Hydrological modeling
* Adaptation to climate change in the water sector
* Climate change mitigation and water resources
* Climate change and risk management
* Climate change water and society

DATE AND VENUE

The National Symposium shall be held in the premises of National Institute of
Hydrology, Roorkee - 247 667 during November 18-19, 2009.

CALL FOR PAPERS

Papers are invited on the topics falling within the above themes. Acceptance of
the paper(s) will be based on the extended abstracts submitted and will be
subjected to the submission of full-length paper(s), which must be presented at
the symposium. All abstracts not exceeding 500 words (submission should be only
by e-mail or hard copy by post) should reach to Dr. Sanjay K. Jain, Scientist E1
& Organizing Secretary National Symposium, National Institute of Hydrology,
Roorkee-247667, on or before July 01, 2009. Abstracts must have the full title
to be used in the Final Paper and must include the name(s), affiliation, mailing
address, telephone, e-mail and fax numbers. The abstracts should be typed in one
and half space in English. acceptance will be communicated by August 17, 2009.
Authors will have to submit full manuscript of the paper(s) (with original
figures, if any) to the symposium Secretariat by October 01, 2009. Necessary
instructions regarding preparation of the manuscript(s) will be sent along with
the acceptance. Author(s) are requested to submit the final text in electronic
form (CD/DVD or through e-mail) along with a hard copy to the Organizing
Secretary.
