Dear Friends,
It is my pleasure to inform you that Executive Council of Indian Association of
Hydrologists in its meeting held on April 13, 2005 decided to give 'Best paper
award' for the papers published in Hydrology Journal of IAH. This award carries
a cash amount of Rs. 10,000 (Rs. Ten thousand, to be distributed equally if
there are more than one authors in the paper) and a certificate. This would be a
good incentive for the authors. This award is open for the papers published in
28 th issue of the journal i.e. papers published in 2005. In the light of this
information, I request to the researchers/ professional hydrologists to
contribute technical papers for the Journal. Hydrology Journal publishes
scientific papers of National / international significance in the field of
hydrology and water resources.
Hydrology Journal
Indian Association of Hydrologists (http://www.nih.ernet.in/iah/) is publishing
"Hydrology Journal" on quarterly basis since 1980. It is devoted to the
publication of scientific papers of national and international significance in
the field of hydrology and water resources, including the following topics: (i)
Hydrologic design and modelling, (ii) catchment hydrology, (iii) environmental
hydrology, (iv) snow and ice hydrology, (v) field instrumentation, (vi)
groundwater (vii) unsaturated zone processes, (vii) erosion and sedimentation,
(viii) arid and semi-arid hydrology, (ix) hydrometeorology, (x) geophysical and
nuclear applications, (xi) remote sensing & GIS, (xii) hydrological extremes,
and (xiii) water availability and water balance.
Guidelines to Author for Preparation of Papers
The manuscript in triplicate or in 3.5" floppy disk (MS Word) should be
addressed to the Editor, HYDROLOGY Journal at the following address :
Dr. N. K. Goel
Editor, Hydrology Journal
Indian Association of Hydrologists
Department of Hydrology

Manuscript
Should be typewritten on only one side of A4 size paper with wide margin on one
side. Generally, there is no page charge, but authors are advised to confine
their manuscripts to 15 typewritten pages (including abstract, references,
tables, and figures). The first page should contain a concise but informative
title (not exceeding 70 characters), an abstract not exceeding 200 words, and
five keywords (to be used for indexing purpose). Names of the author(s) along
with telephone, fax, e-mail numbers of the author(s) should be provided on a
separate page. For headings, first capital, and rest small letters in each word

of charge and sent to the corresponding author.
Mathematical Symbols and Notations
Symbols should be defined wherever they appear first in the text.
Drawings and Tables
All illustrations (e.g., figures, and drawings) should be drawn on good quality
tracing paper with dense black drawing in a proportion so that details (e.g.,
lines, numbers, symbols, letters) are clearly visible after a reduction to
alteast one half of the original size, and shoild be numbered consequently in
the order they are mentioned in the text. Each illustration should have a
legend; these should be on a separate page and numbered consequently. Tables
should also similarly numbered. With new generation DTP softwares, these could
be made embedded on the text. Photographs (in black and white, unless otherwise
warranted) should be submitted as un-mounted glossy enlargements showing good
details and moderate contrast.
References
References to published literature appearing in the text should be in the form "
as mentioned by Todd (1980)" or as given by Katiyar et al. (1993)". These
references should be listed alphabetically at the end of the text in the
following style:
Todd, D.K., 1980. Groundwater Hydrology, 2nd Ed., John Wiley, New york.
Katiyar, V.S., Juyal, G.P., and Dadhwal, K.S., 1993. Water resource conservation
in a mined watershed in the U.P. Himalaya, Hydrology Journal, XVI (1 & 2), 1-13.
