Just a last-minute reminder on Tuesday's meeting. Hope you can join us!

*****

The Tuesday, September 10th meeting of the Rocky Mountain Internet
Users Group (RMIUG) will feature a panel discussion called "Technology
and the Internet in Colorado Politics." Join us as our panelists
discuss how technology, the Internet, web sites and email are
figuring into the current political landscape in Colorado. As
candidates, elected officials, political parties and political
activists all rely more and more on technology to achieve their
goals, it's useful to get a "behind-the-scenes" peek into what's
really happening and how the Net is changing the rules. As always,
plenty of time will be given for interactive Q&A, so bring lots of
questions.

Kenton D. Kuhn (kkuhn@...), Founder and
President of Intellinet Interactive, will be speaking on how
interactive websites and email are being used by candidates and
elected officials, and how various public sector and activist web
projects germinate and grow. Kenton founded his firm Intellinet
in 1986 to provide online services to local government and industry.
Since that time, he has overseen the development of numerous
political and public sector technology solutions, including the
"Capitol Connection", a comprehensive online legislative database,
Colorado's Telemarketing "Do Not Call" Internet-based list, Equal
Rights Colorado, Smoke Free Fort Collins and several projects
involving candidates for political office. Mr. Kuhn was recognized
as Who's Who in High Technology by the Denver Business Journal from
1997-2001.

Anthony S. Martinez (anthonysmartinez@...) is a candidate for
Colorado Secretary of State in this Fall's election. Anthony will
be sharing his first-hand endeavors in running for office, which
helped him win over a half-million votes for Secretary of State in
2000 through an entirely citizen-driven effort. He is a 5th
generation Colorado native from the San Luis Valley, an Air Force
Academy graduate, college professor and entrepreneur.

We are also working to add one more speaker to the panel.

The meeting is Tuesday, September 10th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm (with
optional 6:30 pm start for refreshments and informal networking). The
meeting will be held at The National Center for Atmospheric Research
(NCAR) at 1850 Table Mesa Drive in Boulder. To get to NCAR from the
Boulder Turnpike (US 36) or Broadway (US 93), take Table Mesa Drive
west towards the mountains for approximately 2.5 miles into the
foothills. NCAR is at the top of the hill. For door-to-door driving
directions, go to MapQuest (http://www.mapquest.com/ ), click on
Driving Directions, enter your starting address, NCAR's address, and
voila! Park in the NCAR lot, go in the main door, and ask the guard
to point you to meeting, which is held in the main auditorium, right
off the lobby. The meeting is free and open to the public, but we may
pass the hat to help defray expenses.

Our meeting location seats about 120 people. That is usually enough
room to accommodate all attendees, but it's impossible for us to
predict how many people will show up for any given meeting. Seating
is always on a first-come, first serve basis, and in the event of
more attendees than seats, we won't be able to admit additional
people into the auditorium after all seats are filled.

Thanks to our new sponsor, ONEWARE (http://www.ONEWARE.com) -- a
Colorado-based software company that provides semi-custom web-based
applications, who is sponsoring the RMIUG meeting minutes.

RMIUG also appreciates the ongoing sponsorship of food and beverages
by MicroStaff (www.microstaff.com). MicroStaff provides Creative
and Technical Talent for Web, Interactive Media, Marketing
Communications and Software Development projects.

Consultants and companies are invited to bring Internet-related
Product information, brochures, and business cards which will be
displayed on an information table.

There are email mailing lists set up for this group. To subscribe or
unsubscribe, see http://www.rmiug.org/maillist.html You can also reach
