Just wondering if there was any activity? I'm starting to get back into the robotics stuff, trying to avoid the mistakes I made last time (too ambitious, and when my projects dragged on with little to show for it I lost interest). Plus the new Lego Midstorms stuff is soon to be released here, and that looks interesting as well. In fact there seems to be a building buzz around at the moment about making things (robotics, electronics, mechanics, etc etc).
Anyway, I'm prepared to help out this time if needed. Maybe we should get some idea first of who/how many are still interested?
To help kick things off, I have the following books in my collection which I'm prepared to lend if anyone is interested:
The Robot Book / Richard Pawson
Good basic book on robots in general, with projects using LEGO Technic and Fishertechnik)Electronics - A Basic Course / Rodney C. L. Edwards, Douglass F. Meyer
Takes you from know no electronics to being able to handle and design circuts featuring transistors, logic gates, amps, etc etc.Making Printed Circut Boards / Jan Alexson
Good book on making PCBs for the hobbyist. Covers several techniques.Extreme Mindstorms / Dave Baum, Michael Gasper, Rapl Hempel, Luis Villa
The Unofficial Guide to Lego Mindstorms /. Jonathan B. Knudsen
Lego Mindstorms for Dummies / Michael Meadhra, Peter J. Stouffer
Note that all these Minstorms books cover the older style system, not the soon to be released NXT.The Robot Builders Bonanza - 99 Inexpensive Robotics Projects / Gorden McComb
The Robot Builders Bonanza 2nd Edition - 99 Inexpensive Robotics Projects / Gorden McComb
This last one is pretty good (covers the lot, including electronics and things like IR range finders, compasses, etc). I'm happy to give the first edition away to the first person who asks for it.MAGAZINE Real Robots (first issue through to around issue 54)
