Thanks Andrew

Yes it's taking up space for me, and it needs a new home.

Send me an email with your address and I'll drop it off this weekend.

Hi all

I have the old traffic lights with starting sensor from the robot club.
See attached image.

Quite a piece of work. I think AndrewM had something to do with building it.

I'd like it to be used again to start the competitions off.

Would someone like to be the new keeper of the traffic lights, I'll
bring it to you.

Sorry to hear that, Damien!

We'll be taking MASSIVE amounts of pictures and video footage of the whole thing

everything went!

Have fun in Jordan!

Hi all,

We’re back again with another robotics workshop. We’ve had good turnouts so far, but more of you need to come along! Great things will be happening at this next one, as we’re not too far away from the RoboLeague event in early August!

The workshop is this Sunday (the 5th of July) at Griffith University Nathan Campus. Building N44, room -1.16 (that’s negative one point one six) starting at 1pm!

Bring your robots, no matter what state their in! This workshop we will be covering the following:

- Soldering 101
- Motor Control
- Sensor Interfacing
- Robot Construction
- Cocky Bots!
- Line Following

- Sumo Training

- Special Appearances

Soldering 101

Not completely comfortable/fluent with soldering? It comes in handy with robotics, so we’ll be showing people how to master the art!

Motor Control

Every good robot needs motors to do its thing! We’ll show you how to get your project moving!

Sensor Interfacing

Is your robot deaf and blind? Let’s fix that!

Robot Construction

Got your circuits worked out but are stumped for how to build the frame to house it? We’ve got you covered.

Cocky Bots!

Alex’s cockroach bots will be being built en-masse ready for the open day! Join in and learn a thing or two about robotics while you’re at it! (bring some cash and you can buy your own kit to take home!)

Line Following

Brett will have his fantastic line follower practice tiles with him, so you can test out your creations!

Sumo Training

The LEGO Mindstorms SumoBot trainer will be present for you to train your SumoBot in the ring! We’ll also have programming experts from most microcontroller fields present to help you iron out any AI difficulties!

Special Appearances

As always, the RoboLeague mascot, Pleo, the robot dinosaur, will be making an appearance. He loves his cuddles, so come along at LEAST to give him one! Also, appearances will be made by many of the RoboLeague MiniSumo contestants. The infamous TM-3050 Kodiak and the mighty Crushinator XJ-2K will be there, nutting it out, as well as several other competitors.

So come on down! Don’t be shy! We have robotics for all skill levels! We’ll get you started out with ease!

Remember! This Sunday (5th of July) at Griffith Uni! Can’t find your way around on the day? Give Alex a call on 0438 107 679.

Juuuuuuuuust in case people don’t realise a forum exists for the RobotSIG…

We have another workshop coming up on the 14th (This Sunday) at Griffith Uni – Nathan Campus.

All the details are on the forum.

Come on down, guys (and girls) as we have A LOT of fun stuff happening at the workshops.

Learn about sensor arrays, motor control, IR communications, microcontrollers, robot design, and even meet Pleo the robot dinosaur if he’s in a good enough mood to talk to you!

We’d love to see some of the newer members turn up, too. Remember, we don’t have many more workshops before the RobotLeague on August 8, so bring your gear and come pay us a visit!

Regards,

Alex Norton

Hi all,

We’re on for this Sunday (the 24th) at 12pm. Griffith Uni Nathan Campus once again, just like last time, but the room is looking like it will be N44 -1.16 (confirmation, Brett?)

Remember, guys, this meeting is a WORKSHOP, so bring your gear, any components you might need, and your robots.

Line following mats will be provided, as will a mini-sumo ring (black ring with white border)

Brett will be bringing some line following tiles which also sound quite versatile.

Soldering irons may not be supplied, so if you need one, you’ll have to bring it along yourself.

Feel free to bring along your development boards and microcontrollers and we’ll get this party started!

Regards,

Alex Norton

Indeed. I didn’t get any replies to my post asking about attendance… Should I worry?

Perhaps it’ll just be you, Brett and I, Nigel?
