Dear Paul:
I’ve send out this picnic announcements to everyone on the email list. Let me know if there are others I should invite.
Hi team members:
The plans for the picnic are set. It will be at Bowers Harbor Park in Traverse City on Sunday, August 2, from 1:00 until about 4 or 5. We have reserved pavilion #3. I sincerely hope that you will come for all or part of this.
The menu includes, grilled hamburgers, brats, hot dogs, fresh fruit and veggies, chips, pop, tea, water & lemonade. All of the food is being supplied by a team member, but if you want to help out we’ll have a can set up for you to make a donation if you wish.
My hope is that those team members who have not had an opportunity to meet others on the team (because our days of volunteering vary) will get that chance on August 2. It is a way of thanking everyone that has helped now and in the past and those that have just discovered us and want to help.
I’m excited about this and I think everyone that comes will have fun.
The park is in a beautiful place on the Old Mission Peninsula where just the drive there is enjoyable with the many orchards and vineyards and beautiful scenery overlooking both arms of Grand Traverse Bay. Once at the park, you will be able to meet other team members and of course eat. The kids will have some activities to do and everyone if they wish may enjoy the park’s Walking path, Playground equipment, Tennis courts, Volleyball court, Softball field, Baseball field, Soccer fields, Playground activities, Handicapped toilets, Parking area. Also, there is a boat launch and swimming areas and historical sites including a lighthouse nearby.
There is a map below, which I know is a little difficult to read. But the directions from Traverse City are:
TAKE GARFIELD ROAD (M-37) NORTH THROUGH TRAVERSE CITY PAST MUNSON AVENUE ONTO OLD MISSION PENINSULA. TURN LEFT ONTO PENINSULA DRIVE (IT GOES RIGHT ALONG WEST GRAND TRAVERSE BAY) AND KEEP ON THAT ROAD UNTIL YOU COME TO A SIGN SAYING ‘BOWERS HARBOR PARK’ POINTING TO THE RIGHT. TURN ON THE ROAD AFTER THE SIGN (SORRY, I FORGOT THE NAME OF THE ROAD) THE PARK IS SHORTLY (ABOUT ¼ MILE) AFTER YOU TURN.
Sincerely,
Linda
