The draught in Texas is sure to end this weekend because the best
rocket clubs in Texas are having launches.

The Dallas Area Rain Society is holding the 2 day, Hotter 'n Hell
launch at McGregor. In addition to HPR there will be a Cola Wars
contest and Water/Stomp rockets. Waiver 11K. Saturday temps will be at
an un-Hellishly 91 degrees, winds, at the most, 6 mph with a 20%
chance of rain in the morning, turning to a %30 chance in the
afternoon. Sunday's weather will be a rerun of Saturday's.
Porta-Pottys and Fire Dept chow is standard at McGregor. Check out
DARS' recently revamped website at www.dars.org

The Hill Country Rocketeers, NAR #671 and Texas Hill Country Tripoli
#089 have joined forces to put on their 2nd HPR launch and cook out in
their J capable field at the Meek Ranch near Fredericksburg. The
waiver is 5K with callins to 8K. The fun starts at 10 AM on Saturday
and doesn't stop until all the motors are gone. Several certification
flights are planned in this huge, treeless cow pasture. Hot dogs and
sodas are 50 cents each and there are never any launch fees. Art
Applewhite Rockets will have motors and kits at reasonable prices. As
far as "facilities" are concerned, the field can use the water. Temps
in the upper 80s, light breezes, partly cloudy and no rain. :)

Challenger 498 will be hosting a NAR sanctioned LMR launch and club
meeting at Rushing Park in Katy, Texas on Saturday from 9 to 5. This
group of hardcore model rocketeers knows what a real rocket launch
should be. FAA notice only. The Park has excellent "comfort"
facilities. Temperatures in the upper 80s, very light winds and a 30%
chance of thundershowers in the afternoon.

If you find yourself "outstanding in a field" somewhere this weekend
make sure you have plenty of sun block and water. If you can't make
to one of these launches to heck with ya'!
