I did install RH7.  The only updates I had done, before today, was bind-8.2.3-1.i386.rpm, bind-utils-8.2.3-1.i386.rpm, pam-0.72-37.i386.rpm.  I don't remember that anything complained, tho.  (Like a newer version exists, etc.)

I'm not sure how it happened, but it sounds like you're saying I *should* be at rpm-4.0-4... but according to the -qi option, I'm not.

So, how do I get back to rpm-4?

We shipped rpm-4.0-4. You didn't install Red Hat Linux 7, unless you
installed this one manually afterwards.

... You shouldn't lose anything. ... You can download the rpm v4 rpms in rpm v3 format from ftp.rpm.org and work your way up from there, but I think upgrading...
