Just an update for any interested parties. It looks like we are going to go with
Arbortext for the editor, content manager and publishing engine. Their CCM can
sit on top of Oracle, satisfying our Oracle requirement.

I’m new to the group (and DITA) and I’m going to try
to make it to the meeting tomorrow. I’m in the M.S. in TechComm
program at NC State. A friend suggested I join the group to learn more
about DITA (in preparation for the capstone project I’ll be doing next
semester, where I plan to use DITA to create an online Help system). I’m
looking forward to meeting everyone and learning more about the group.

Good morning. I am a member of the DITA Group. I work
for Quark and we have a product that supports DITA within Microsoft
Word, called XML Author. Since I am a member of the group would it be
OK for me to attend the meeting on December 9, 2009? I am in Raleigh
this week for meetings. If so, could you please give me directions to
SDI? In addition, I would like to make a presentation to your group in
2010.

there is the rub, I have seen claims that it is XML aware and works with DITA,
but can find no details about it, which makes me suspicious

Is the Stellant CMS XML aware? I am not sure. You need to make sure that the CMS you are thinking about using is XML aware. Otherwise, you would only be storing XML as a blob in the database.

I don't have any experience with Stellant, but you may want to check the main DITA User's Group and ask the question there. As a larger population, someone may have some experience with it.

Hi everyone,
As you may be aware, our next meeting (Dec. 9) will be more of a social/planning
meeting. There will be snacks and discussion with the Boston/Rhode Island group
about what topics should be presented next year and any other burning topics.
To prepare for that meeting, the planning committee would appreciate it if all
members would participate in a short (6 questions) survey about what we've done
in the past and what would make sense for the future. We will present the
results at the Dec. 9 meeting and solicit any additional input.
Here's the link to the survey:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=u_2fdHR3gZMFofknJPLpLZaw_3d_3d
The survey closes Dec. 7 at 12 PM ET so we can analyze the results in time for
the meeting.
Thanks for your assistance.
