On July 27, the CDISC Global User Network (CGUN) was formally established, following several months of collaboration with representatives from many CDISC User Networks from across the globe. The CDISC Global User Network consists of a chairperson, the leaders for each Regional User Network, and the coordinators of the Organization, Education, and Communication Committees.  Dan Godoy (AstraZeneca) was elected as the first CGUN Chair for a period of one year.  All Regional User Network Leaders are permanent members. The new CGUN will have, among others, the following key objectives as part of its mission:
• Serve as a bridge between CDISC and users
• Provide CDISC teams with examples and feedback from users testing the standards
• Provide CDISC with a pool of experts when new initiatives are being launched
• Perform a coordinating role across all Regional User Networks in terms of Education and Communication

Regional User Networks have been popping up both in the U.S. and Europe as grass-roots organizations. Currently they are found in:
1.        SF Bay area
2.        "Atlantic" (NY area)
3.        Boston area
4.        Chicago
5.        Delaware Valley
6.        "Heartland" (midwest)
7.        RTP
8.        Seattle
9.        Washington DC

Europe has user groups based on language:
1.        Nordic
2.        French
3.        German
4.        Italian
5.        English

RTP has been heavily involved in the formation of the CGUN, with membership on the overall committee and the Organization and Education subteams.

Stay tuned for the roll-out of the CGUN website scheduled for the near future. This site will provide a place to post our user group calendar, presentations, etc. as well as allow us to view other groups' materials. If all goes as planned, we'll eventually move off the yahoo group scheme and use this as our main web presence.
