Welcome Herb! So, it seems like we could definitely use an online list of "supplemental resources" with some comments and links back to relevant chapters in...
... Thank you. ... relevant ... We should just dump them (initially) onto the list so that we get SOMETHING started. It will take some time (and may never be ...
Carlos Rovelli (Google) is pretty interesting whenever he writes about Quantum Gravity. I found an survey of quantum gravity approaches article by him (in an ...
Allow me to face the truth, although I actually can SPELL, when I type my thoughts and typing mistakes get in the way. It is CARLO (no 's') Rovelli and of...
Professor Sean Carroll has many of his course notes online -- these were revised and released as one of the better known General Relativity texts (maybe #5 on...
The following is only a subset of the Internet material on Tensors that I have located: Tensor Analysis Quick introduction to tensor analysis Ruslan Sharipov ...
... <snip> ... Replying to my own message to report that the 3-hour video (29 slides) was really an excellent 'introduction' to Relativity the Tensors ...
... Glad you are posting -- I was beginning to suspect that everyone else had dropped out and thought that perhaps I would post something useful everyday for a...
Hi, I just wanted to say that I'm still here as well :) All the postings have been fantastic, I've just been really busy with "real life" lately. I do have an...

Everything you say is true for a coordinate approach, I believe. Many modern GR texts, however, seem to favour a coordinate-free (aka component-free) approach...
At an even more basic level is how you approach vectors. If you view a vector as a tuple of real numbers, you are taking a coordinate/component-based approach....
... Unfortunately, I did post this to sci.math and sci.physics at the same time, and got zero reponses :( Same URL, replace sci.physics with sci.math: ...

uhh...ok...time to do my part eh? So - first about Rovelli. He is one of the main contributors to Loop Quantum Gravity, which is covered by Penrose in chap 32....
I totally agree that carrolls stuff is excellent. Baez has a "somewhat odd" on-line lecture at http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/gr/gr.html and a diffent one at ...

Almost forgot to mention some other cool stuff by Rovelli. He has done some interesting papers on interpretation of QM, which he calls the "relational...
