Ruby Lead Developer / Architect

Our client is a venture-backed start-up building a social media
content encouragement system. The company is a small but dedicated mix
of industry veterans from compelling products like: Blogger, Google
Reader, Cold Fusion, Flex, MySpace, Plazes, and Sphere.

They are hiring a handful of stellar, driven engineers who love to
iteratively develop fun and useful products based on open source and
next-generation technologies.

They are looking to fill a tech lead position at their Bay Area office
location. This is an exciting opportunity to join a company in its
developing stages, and work closely with a small team of talented,
passionate engineers.

Hard Skills:

• Extensive software development experience in a variety of languages
• Experience with Unix/Linux environments
• Expert level development and architecture w/ Ruby on Rails
• +'s: Merb, JSON, SOA, Web services, AJAX, SQL, XML, CouchDB, Postgres
• Lead/architecture experience, but still a hands-on developer
• Demonstrated ability to architect, design and develop scalable Web
backends
• Strong SEO experience
• Deep knowledge of (semi-)structured data
• Experience developing a CMS or e-commerce platform is a big plus

Soft Skills
• Involvement in Ruby and Open Source communities.
• Passionate about the web.
• Dedicated, risk-taking, inspired individual who wishes to build
compelling products and a successful company
• Startup and/or entrepreneurial experience
• Team player who can keep his/her ego in check, loves to eat hard
problems for breakfast, and enjoys mentoring junior talent
• Leadership (not necessarily management) experience
