Rupture.com is looking for a Rubyist: a developer both passionate and
articulate, with an uncompromising drive to optimize for productivity and
happiness.
We're using Rails and an array of home-baked backend tech to build a large-scale
social gaming application, solving problems that aren't particularly solved
(yet) -- aggregating massive amounts of game data, and mining that data to
create compelling social features which enhance the overall experience of
playing games.
Our small web team has offices in downtown San Francisco; we're serious about
agile processes and tools, test-driven development (currently RSpec with
Cucumber), Getting Real, REST, and the huge gaming setup in our main room. Most
of us are using Git (and loving it), we have a couple Javascript nuts on staff,
and we make time for contributing back to the open-source ecosystem,
particularly Rails and its community.
By the numbers, our staff is about evenly split between hardcore, always-on
MMORPG people and casual gamers.
Besides Ruby, we're currently using MySQL, Erlang, Prototype+Scriptaculous,
C++, EC2, XSLT, and a few flavors of Linux (at EngineYard). All of us
C++use
Macs, but you're mostly free to choose the tools that make you happy.
Effective, concise writing skills are a big plus. Most of us have 2-3 years'
time with Ruby, although we really treasure enthusiasm and inquisitiveness over
experience. The right candidate will probably have been tinkering with the web
for a decade or so, though.
To apply, send along links to some of your open-source contributions with a
quick résumé, and we'll take a look. Thanks!
