Web Developer

Charlotte, NC based media site seeks open-source Web Developer. Ruby
on Rails, Python (Django), XML/RSS, XHTML, Velocity, MySQL,
javascript, and more. B.S. in related field and 4+ years experience
preferred. An open mind and flexibility is a must in this fast-paced
environment. Some, but minimal, hardware sys admin
responsibilities.

Role will assume responsibilities for coding, testing, deploying and
maintaining all web-based efforts for the site. This includes
collaborating with other members of the online team to ensure that
the entire development process, from planning, design, development,
implementation, and maintenance, are executed with the highest
quality in mind.

This role will advocate for standards compliant best practices at all
levels of development. This role will work closely with the Senior
Web Designer on design and development concerns to ensure an
effective and efficient workflow for the overall development cycle.

Specifically, this role will:
• Maintain, de-bug, optimize and enhance existing code in place
• Participate in and contribute to the planning process for new
projects and give input on specific technologies utilized to complete
projects
• Develop new code according to project specs
• Work with customer service team to troubleshoot user complaints
regarding all aspects of site activity
• Serve as the technical consultant between the online team and other
internal departments, as well as external vendors and partners
• Respond to emergency calls during off-hours for site response and
performance problems
• Optimize code and code structure to ensure the site responds as
quickly as possible
• Implement and optimize analytics tracking code (Omniture, Google
Analytics, etc.)
• Implement and optimize ad server tags (DART for Publisher, etc.)
