My New York City client, the developer of the world's first marketplace for
privately held businesses, seeks a "cornerstone engineer" to join their team and
build the next generation of our web-based product offerings. Above all, they
are seeking a rock star developer who believes in our business model, wants a
huge technical leadership role in a startup, and is inspired by the technical
challenges and commercial opportunities our business model presents. This role
requires the engineer to effectively and frequently engage directly at both the
business and technical level. The engineer will also be instrumental in making
strategic decisions regarding our technology stack, programming languages used,
etc.
They are looking for developers who have:
* Strong communications skills who can fully understand our customer's
commercial pain points and can create technology to help solve those problems
directly
* A background working in startup environments and thrive in them
* A demonstrable interest in the problems we are trying to solve which pertain
to:
* Web-based marketplaces
* Gaming-resistant systems that accurately reflects quality
* Sophisticated Matching and Recommendation Engines for business-to-business (as
opposed to "consumer") use cases
Preferred Skills/Experience:
* Commitment to agile-based development methodology; demonstrated ability to
work in a highly entrepreneurial environment with colleagues with modest
technical backgrounds
* A minimum of 4 years of commercial software development experience
* Proficient with complete web application development stack, both front and
back-end
* Experience programming in PHP, Python, Ruby (or RoR); HTML / CSS / a plus
* Experience with web services APIs for Salesforce.com and Amazon Web Services
* BS/CS, IS or equivalent from top tier university; M.S. preferred
* Passion for technology and providing valuable, usable products to customers
via the SaaS model
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Bonus Points for:
• experience setting up and administering LAMP servers
• experience with Salesforce.com implementation, administration and
configuration
