available for someone with experience writing and using Web
Crawling / Web Spidering applications to work at its client, a well
established company in the South Sacramento area.

The client has designated this as a Technical Systems Analyst (mid-
level programmer with data analysis skills) position available for
contract-to-hire. This person will be tasked with redesigning
software tools, writing spiders, utilizing data, various types of
scripting, must be skilled in HTML, SGML, XML/XSLT, REGEX (Regular
Expression) and acquiring data from various sources. They will also
be re-designing current editorial software tools from a Unix to a
Windows environment. They will be taking an OEM (original equipment
manufacturer) repair data and transforming it to a standard taxonomy
and publishing this data to be utilized my multiple software
products. The data sources will vary from SGML to HTML and raw text.
This individual needs to have strong scripting experience and be
familiar enough with Web Publishing to "reverse-engineer" a web site
to enable Spidering (web crawlers). Specific experience in Perl
and/or Ruby is a major benefit, but not required. Java and C++
experience is also required. The individual should have some Unix
scripting and operating system experience and the individual should
also be Web/Net `savvy'. The position will entail data
transformation into relational and XML databases.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of professional experience
in IT overall, and must have some specific experience working on-the-
job with Web Spidering / Web Crawling design and development /
scripting. This individual must have good ` problem decomposition
skills' for breaking down the elements of the tasks before them, as
well as the ability to 'reverse-engineer' a web page and other
technical subject matter. They must also have excellent
communication skills, both written and oral, and have demonstrated
the ability on a project listen directly to end-users, and to be
very flexible in the proposed solution, as there may be up to 20
different flavors of the same problem.

The target salary range is between 65k and 75k, with up to a 10%
performance bonus if the company hits their expected numbers for the
year, which they have consistently done.
