SAMSPRÅK is a group for individual translators who translate from English to Swedish or from Swedish to English. The purpose of the group is to promote the effectiveness, quality, speed and ease of members’ translation work.

Topics dealt with are, for instance, general language issues, terminology, dictionaries, glossaries, web sites, translation tools, other software, hardware, copyright and intellectual property rights, contracts, other legal issues, accounting, billing, payment, business practices and marketing. Emphasis are on topics and issues directly related to the translation aspect of translators’ work.

Topics that are NOT dealt with are: (a) reference to particular translation agencies or other translation customers; (b) issues that can be conceived as breaking US antitrust laws; (c) solicitation of jobs or translators.

Valuable information is annotated and archived in the features Files, Photos, Bookmarks, and Database, e.g., files with helpful programs, useful websites (incl. glossary sites), difficult-to-translate words, software tools, hardware tips, discussion summaries, and valuable pieces of advice. Important events will be announced in the feature Calendar. Samspråk is thus an ever-growing resource, giving its members a competitive edge.

Both English and Swedish can be used.
