Send Email Send Email

Get in on an all day, in-depth deep dive into data storage with Microsoft
Certified Master and MVP Denny Cherry, for only $99!

"All About Data Storage"
One of the biggest issues in database performance is around storage. It’s
also one of the hardest places to troubleshoot performance issues because
storage engineers and database administrators often do not speak the same
language. In this session, we’ll be looking at storage from both the
database and storage perspectives. We’ll be digging into LUNs, HBAs, the
fabric, as well as the storage configuration.

As this is a pre-con session we'll be able to really dig into some advanced
storage configurations. This includes RAID groups, multi-pathing software,
proper redundant storage network design. We will also be digging into
some advanced storage array backup techniques including taking storage
level clones and snapshots. After going over these advanced techniques we
will dig into how these can best be used to backup the SQL Server
environment to provide maximum redundancy with no recurring tape costs.

About Denny Cherry
Denny Cherry is an independent consultant with over a decade of experience
working with platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, Hyper-V, vSphere and
Enterprise Storage solutions. Denny’s areas of technical expertise include
system architecture, performance tuning, security, replication and
troubleshooting. Denny currently holds several of the Microsoft
Certifications related to SQL Server for versions 2000 through 2008
including the Microsoft Certified Master for SQL Server 2008 as well as
being a Microsoft MVP for several years.

Event will be held at the Micorsoft MTC office in Irvine, CA on Friday,
March 23rd.

Our presentation will be "Up Your Game With OUTPUT"

Session Abstract:
There are some classic database programming tasks that rely on answering
the question "What did I just change?" Prior to SQL Server 2005, we had to
use functions like SCOPE_IDENTITY() and some extra tricks for handling
multiple rows. Some people even had to resort to triggers. Yikes!! This
session focuses on the practical use cases for the T-SQL OUTPUT clause.
More importantly, you will find out how you can ditch the tricks of the
past for a simpler solution that will help keep you sane.

Speaker Bio:
Phil Helmer has been working with relational databases for the last 10
years, the last half of that with SQL Server. He is particularly involved

Our presentation will be "TAKING YOUR APPLICATION DESIGN TO THE NEXT LEVEL
BY USING SQL SERVER 2012 DATA MINING"

Session Abstract:
Data mining as a technology is used to analyze data by revealing patterns.
These patterns can then be used to derive knowledge about data, and in turn
this knowledge can be used to enhance application designs and the user
experience. In this session, you will be introduced to the data mining
capabilities in SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services, and demonstrations on
how to specifically develop data mining models that can be embedded into
your applications.

This session is guaranteed to thrill you with potential, and excite you
with the ease in which it can be accomplished. Be warned that this session
includes numerous demonstrations that show you how to embed data mining
into your application designs. The demonstrations range from simple
(involving no code!) to more sophisticated examples.

Note that there is no requirement that attendees have any data mining
background. This session is a must for any developer looking to embed
“Artificial Intelligence” into their solution design to take their
applications to the next level. This session is equally relevant for
non-developers interested to understand and evaluate the data mining
capabilities delivered in SQL Server 2008 or 2012.

show how to quickly build a dashboard and share it via Tableau Server as
well as how Tableau's data server can help speed things up and centralize
your metric definitions. Please join me in learning a bit about Tableau and
what it does exceedingly well and those things which it does not. For any
specific questions prior to the preso please message me on twitter
