"Legal, Ethical, and Clinical Contours of Forensic Examinations"

This 7 hour workshop focuses on applied aspects of the forensic
examination process, and how legal, ethical and clinical authority
shapes the forensic work product of psychologists. Topics reviewed
in this workshop include the different roles that psychologists can
have in legal proceedings and associated ethical obligations, the
legal foundations of forensic examinations, clinical assessment
procedures, and the effective and ethical presentation of expert
opinions via report writing and testimony, including review of
forensic reports and videotaped testimony.
Although this workshop is geared primarily towards psychologists and
the assessment endeavor, all mental health professionals with an
interest in evaluation and forensic practice may be interested in
the presentation.

devoted to advancing the science and practice of personality
assessment.
CEU Credit: SAPAS arranges 7 APA-approved CEU for the workshop
through SPA. The Society for Personality Assessment is approved by
the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education
for psychologists. SPA maintains responsibility for this program and
its content.

Randy Otto, Ph.D., ABPP is an Associate Professor in the Department
of Mental Health Law and Policy at the Florida Mental Health
Institute, University of South Florida, and he also serves as
adjunct faculty at Stetson University College of Law in St.
Petersburg. He is a licensed psychologist and is board certified in
forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional
Psychology. Dr. Otto is a Fellow of the American Psychological
Association (Division 41) and has served as President of the
American Academy of Forensic Psychology, the American Psychology-Law
Society, and the American Board of Forensic Psychology. He has co-
authored texts on competence to proceed and mental health law, and
recently joined Gary Melton, John Petrila, Norm Poythress, Chris
Slobogin and Phil Lyons in revising Psychological Evaluations for
the Courts: A Handbook for Mental Health Professionals and Lawyers,
which is to be published in 2008. Dr. Otto has conducted continuing
education workshops on psychological assessment in the continental
United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, and he currently serves on
the editorial boards of Behavioral Sciences & the Law, Assessment,
and Criminal Justice and Behavior.
