Re: [sap bc] DRS server

Your company must have a remote site for DR. In our case we test DR once a year where the whole team including Basis people, Unix, DB, Network (WINTEL) go to that site and do the process. Its a 2 days activity where we work 24X7 and once all production and other desired systems are restored we switch the network. You need to have someone experience and lead this activity. There is always a separate DR team in all orgainisations which sets up the contentent and directions for this.
WRT basis we just have to do a point in time recovery and switch the systems when they are ready. Backup tapes are restored first which includes the O/S restore and other dectories/mount points, Unix does their own system resotre and then followed by basis. Hope this helps.

Dear Pankaj,

I think DR is important activities, only big client must be having some system in place, I also want to know more about system you follow, so that we also build the same system.

We have 100 GB of Database with ECC5+MS-SQL+ Win 2003 server.

Please send some brief steps to understand the procedure.

Regards

Ankit are you talking about Disaster recovery or fali over? DR we are usually doing at different location and its a kind of activity we do it once a year, where we built a server exactly the same we have running production servers. Once restored then we shut the primary production down and swith the ip of new built (restored copy of prod) server. This activity is a combined team work of unix, sap and recovery team

For fail over I hope you are aware of this; we have quality servers as fail over for production and in case of prod down the q will take over p and with the help of virtual ip this process it carried out.

R,

Pankaj
