When I was stationed in Homestead AFB Florida during the VietNam era the F4Es
flew to Avon Park for bombing. We trained all year around, so Avon Park was not
open to the public back then.

BTW: We trained many squadrons of Iranian pilots to fly Phantoms out of
Homestead.
