Victims of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church now have a place to turn for help.

On Monday, the Archdiocese of San Antonio announced a new position. The Coordinator of the Office of Victim's Assistance and Safe Environments.

Judy Perillo says the church wants to move forward, especially in the protection of children.

"That's why this office is so vital and it is my intention that every victim that comes into this office will receive effective, supportive, listening immediately," said Perillo.

The position is part of the U.S. Catholic Bishops Charter for the Protection of Children and Youth.
