Either way, mail readers should reject messages which have the same
Message-ID line in the header as any messages the already have in their
database. This is just one of the checks for handling email in the
negotiations with your own ISPs server using POP3 delivery.
It might be useful if you can check whether this line is the same in any
of the duplicated messages you have. If it is then you can be pretty
certain that your mail reader is broken.
Incidentally - I am using a Wintel machine and do not have the "multiple
old postings" problem. Guess it could be just a MAC virus after all.
