Hello Scippers
Just to let you know that another session of our popular Volunteer Walk Leader
Training will be happening on Thursday August 21st, 10am - 4.30pm at Kings
House, Grand Avenue. The training is free, informative and fun and is designed
to give people the skills and confidence to lead Healthwalks with members of the
public.
Once people have trained they can contribute to our programme of Led Walks or
help to create new ones in their communities. They can also join our diverse
and friendly volunteer team (currently over 50 regular volunteers) and enjoy
regular network and social events. Volunteering with Healthwalks is very
rewarding, as volunteers get to see the results of their volunteering first hand
as participants gain in confidence and improve their physical and mental health.
It is also a great opportunity for the volunteer to get some enjoyable exercise
and improve their own fitness and wellbeing!
The Healthwalks Volunteer Walk Leader training is free for attendees; however
the cost to the Healthwalks scheme to deliver this training and provide
Healthwalk branded kit (t-shirt, fleece and rain jacket) is £100 per attendee.
Therefore we prioritise those attendees that feel they can make a regular
commitment to volunteering for the scheme. Those who are attending on behalf of
a paid employer are asked for a £20 contribution towards the training so that we
can continue to offer it for free to volunteers.
