BIG Lottery 'Big Thinking' Consultation

The BIG Lottery launched it's Big Thinking Consultation in London on
Monday 17th November when organisations came together to put their
views on Lottery funding for communities. Big thinking is the
opportunity to influence the BIG Lottery Fund to plan their future
funding policies for 2009 – 2015 and to consider how to award funding
to community projects.

However the questionnaire which is available online raises some
concerns about the future of voluntary sector funding and from BIG:
a. 'Do you agree we should have a greater focus in our funding to
benefit those most in need?'
b. 'After 2012, when our 60-70 per cent undertaking ends, should we
continue to guarantee a percentage of our funding goes to the
voluntary and community sector?'

Does this mean BIG are considering funding the public and the private sector?

The online form makes it difficult to broaden the response to a number
of the questions which in our view require a more substantial answer.

If you would like to participate in a focus group being held in the
afternoon on 14th January 09 at the YMCA, Guildford (details to be
confirmed) to discuss these questions and to enable RAISE to form the
members response to the consultation please contact
Terry@...
