"daily muddle" ?

Sounds like a place you bring a stick and have
a nice day-time drink. ;)

The best ideas come from executives at "daily muddles" ! ;)

I like this quote (from p2 of the article):

"Every day, the company's 13-member executive team meets for a 10-
minute "daily muddle" to review work done the day before, as well as
look at pending projects and any hurdles that might stand in the way
of completing future work. Ditto for members of employee teams
assigned to various projects, which often come up with ideas for new
products and services."

Gee, that practice sounds familiar...

Hi,

There is a relatively new group called Agile-ANN, where we hope to
draw a large crowd interested in Agile Announcements.

The hope is that real discussion groups will receive...fewer...announcements.

See here: http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/Agile-ANN/

The announcements can be about almost anything:
* courses
* jobs or gigs that are open
* new or existing groups
* group meetings
* services offered
* etc.

And any discussion of such announcements.

These will be announcements for any flavor of lean or
agile. Including Lean/Agile that is oriented toward software dev and
toward more business implementations.

Scope is worldwide.

Hope this helps. Hope everyone joins...I think you'll find some of
these announcements useful.

Regards, Joe

This should be an excellent event. Some good things to learn, some

It is easy to talk about Agile; it is not so easy to lead it and

Good Morning,

My name is Markus Rischar. I live in Dublin, Ireland.. I am an APM accredited
Project Manager (+ Scrum Master course) with over 10 years experience in the IT
industry. I have mainly worked in product development and product roll-out. The
companies I have worked during that period were Corel, Logica, Vodafone and
Overture/Yahoo.

I am currently looking for 1 or 2 case study companies as part of my MSc
Research Project with Open University, UK.

Case study company requirements:
Must employ agile software development practices, e.g. SCRUM, XP, …
Must be available to complete a 15 question (30 min.) questionnaire (August –
September time frame).
Available for a 30 min. phone interview.
Would be great if you employ or have experience with ‘traditional’
methodologies, e.g. waterfall.- Are you part of larger or external teams that
require upfront requirements planning, more formalised communication?

The aim of this research project is to provide a set of management
recommendations for implementing and controlling adaptive product development
models based on the identification of an appropriated combination of organic and
mechanistic practices.

If you’re interested please contact me at: markusrischar@...

Best Regards

Maruks

I've also appended the original post below. Hope to see you all there!

What: Diaspar Software is proud to present the fourth installment of
the XP Day North America series: XP Day Toronto taking place on May
12, 2007.

Why Might you Care: We're a small conference that focuses on three
things:
1) Helping people who are XP curious to start practicing XP in their
current work environments.
2) Bringing together current XP Practitioners to exchange ideas and
share their experiences amongst the attendees.
3) Accessibility of field experts. Deep insightful answers typically
only cost 1 beer :-).

5 more reasons why you should attend XP Day Toronto:
1) Presenting at XP Day will be: Brian Marick, Gil Broza & J.B.
Rainsberger.
2) Deborah Hartmann runs our fantastic open space, which has always
been full of interesting topics and lively conversation.
3) We limit our attendance to 125 registrants to ensure reasonable
access to guest speakers and special invitees.
4) It's inexpensive. $265 gets you in the door and that includes
continental breakfast, lunch and snacks.
5) Our first conference in Toronto was a success. Since then, we've
worked on improving the conference and now we're back. Come down and
support us. If you were not in attendance at the first XP Day
Toronto, don't miss out on the second.

Interested? If you prefer a website as opposed to plain text, please
visit http://www.xpday.info for all the details. If you're too tired
to enter the link, keep reading.

If you are looking for an opportunity to learn more about Extreme
Programming without having to spend an entire week at a large
international XP conference, XP Day Toronto fits the bill. XP Day is
a one-day event with activities for anyone interested in Extreme
Programming, whether you're:

* A programmer who has heard about XP and wants to find out more.
* An executive wondering how XP can improve the contribution your
software organization makes to the bottom line.
* A manager looking for ways to increase your team's effectiveness.
* A skeptic, hoping to challenge the most experienced and outspoken XP
practitioners.
* A programmer itching to experience a real XP project room.
* An experienced practitioner, hoping to share ideas with other
experienced practitioners.

We know Agile 2007 is coming up, but XP Day Toronto is an excellent
opportunity to meet, attend tutorial sessions and even work with some
of the XP community's most notable practitioners. Not to mention that
Deb Hartmann's open space has always received rave reviews! All this
for $265 (continental breakfast & lunch included).

*******
On May 9-10, Mary and Tom Poppendieck will give their Lean Software
Development: Practitioner's course in Charlotte, NC. This is a 2-day
course. This is their only planned course in the eastern US this year.

This is an excellent course. It will help you satisfy your customers
with quality work more quickly. It will cover many of the topics in
their recent book: Implementing Lean Software Development; From
Concept to Cash (see:
http://www.amazon.com/Implementing-Lean-Software-Development-Addison-Wesley/dp/0\

Lean Software Development is highly complementary to Scrum. Indeed,
Jeff Sutherland (co-creator of Scrum) wrote a foreword to their recent book.

My apologies if you've already received this as a member of another
Yahoo group.

4 more reasons why you should attend XP Day Toronto:
1) Presenting at XP Day will be: Brian Marick, Gil Broza & J.B.
Rainsberger.
2) Deborah Hartmann runs our fantastic open space, which has always
been full of interesting topics and lively conversation.
3) We limit our attendance to 125 registrants to ensure reasonable
access to guest speakers and special invitees.
4) It's inexpensive. $265 gets you in the door and that includes
continental breakfast, lunch and snacks.

REMINDER: This is an excellent course.

The Poppendiecks like Scrum (eg, Jeff Sutherland is mentioned many
times in their book), but have some things they would change about
what hey see commonly happens with Scrum.

I'm not sure I'd have time to eat, since I'm facilitating this XP Toronto.
I would still like to show up for the early part of the dinner, though I
also have a friend and coworker from out west who has recently relocated and
may be interested in the joining us.
