childhood disorders. Everything about autism, from etiology to
characteristics to treatment, has evoked strong disagreements
and passions. What do we know and what do we not know about
this devastating disorder? How can parents, educators, and the
general public cut through the hype, the unproven, and the
blatantly bogus? These children depend on us to do so.
