Change of day (again!) to Last Sunday of the Month   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #205 of 225 |
Hello all,

In light of the fact that the first Sunday of the month is the same day as the
Los Angeles Futurists hold their meeting, I've asked Barnes & Noble if we could
switch to .... The Last Sunday of the Month. & they have said yes. SO - we are
on for the following schedule - always the last Sunday of the month:

March 25 (the fourth Sunday)
April 29th (the fifth Sunday)
May 27th (the fourth Sunday)
June 24th (the fourth Sunday)
July 29th (the fifth Sunday)

Time will still be 6 pm.
Sometimes the L.A. folks come down to San Diego & vice versa; this change will
enable our groups to continue to cross-fertilize (and enable me to badger John
Smart into coming down & giving us an updated version of his thoughts on the
future!). I have one potential speaker for March & will let you know details as
I have them.

Also, thanks to everyone who replied to my request for suggestions on how to
improve my moderating (moderation?) of our discussions. I got some good ones.
For example:
1) Invite everyone present to say a couple of sentences about the topic, if
they have any to share, as we go around doing introductions. This can be fodder
for discussion later. (Kind of like impromptu agenda-building)
2) Keep to the topic (my difficulty here is that I find almost any conversation
among intelligent people satisfying, but a few people have offered to help me be
more aware when the conversation is straying far afield.)
3) Respect for others is mandatory. OK to differ on opinions, and even debate
them (that is fun), but keep it friendly. (my difficulty here is that I don't
usually take what people say seriously enough to get offended. Instead I am
entertained. But I will try to be more alert to when folks cross the line.)
I'm still learning, so please feel free to make more suggestions as they occur
to you.

I've been enjoying the new NAFSN discussion list - maybe some of you have also
joined it. It's very positive in its orientation - upbeat, optimistic future
commentaries & some interesting people to meet in cyberspace. If you didn't get
the invite, or misplaced/deleted it, let me know & I'll forward one on.

See you on March 25th!

-Lisa
