Hello all,

Thanks so much to Rob for sending out a reminder email! What a great emeritus
moderator he is, eh? But I'm still looking to one of you all to step up to the
plate & be the new moderator for our group. Mmmm? How about it??? Maybe YOU
would like an excuse to contact anyone you'd like to hear speak...?
Vernor Vinge is speaking this Sunday at 6 pm at the Barnes & Noble. His talk
will be on:

What If the Singularity Does NOT Happen?


(But he does still think that it will!)
He's a fascinating, engaging speaker. There will be no better way for the
intellectually curious futurist to spend this next Sunday evening than to come
out to the almost traffic-free Barnes & Noble to hear Vernor (and maybe buy one
of his books - if you are a sci-fi fan & for some reason haven't got ALL of his
books yet!). I'm even making my new boss fly me back to SD for the weekend so I
can do my last round of moderating. I will hope to see y'all this Sunday in Mira
Misa.
