Has anyone ever created a transform box around a square?  An example is in ImageReady when you draw a rounded rectangle, click the Direct Select Tool and check Show Transform Box.  I am trying to create a transform box for a square movieclip so that the user can transform it.

Any help/insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Has anyone ever created a cubic bezier curve in Flash 8?  There is a graphic and a little blurb talking about in the Flash 8 Help file under curveTo().

Basically I want to create a circle with the one cubic bezier curve on top and the other half on the bottom.  The goal is to be able to manipulate the circle points with the bezier handles.

Any help/insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,

The old macromedia site for flash might have some info. You probably already
know about it
but I thought I would mention it.

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/

There are some articles that the video seminar was taken from. I think there was
also a latest
greatest sheet of what is new in 8.

Total Training also has discs on Flash 8 and also ActionScripting. I've been
going through it
and have found some hidden features, or some features that are not the "Wow."

Good Luck with the testing.

Sounds cool. I'd love to try any mock tests that would help hone my skills for
taking the real thing. I'm planning on taking the Flash 8 test this month. In
addition to the "Flash 8 on demand" book which I mentioned earlier (that Keith
recomended), I have the "Flash 8 training from the source" book, and I have been
learning from the Lynda.com Flash tutorials. Oh, and I am borrowing the "Flash
MX 2004 Certified Designer Study Guide" too, which I'm hoping will still be very
relivant to Flash 8. Hopefully with all these materials I'll pass the test. :-)

If anyone takes the Flash 8 test before I do, I'd love to hear more about it.
I'm wondering how developer oriented it will be?...

Thanks!
Jacob

I did some checking and their is only one test this time, they are
combinding the skillset. I think it is a bad idea. I am also very
curious what this test is like, I would like to create a mock test to
help prepare people for taking the test in Captivate and if anyone
takes it and has some input please send it my way.

I noticed it was one test, and I'm plannig to take it sometime this
month. I'm using the "Training from the source" book series from
Adobe Press to study for it. I'll let you know how it goes.

I saw it at www.vue.com this last weekend. It doesn't seem that they
have any info for it at the Adobe site yet. Apparently there is no
longer a separate test for designer or developer, just one test for
Flash 8. I am guessing that it is all inclusive in one now?

Hey all, just joined and thought I'd say hi. I've been doing the Flash
thing for about four years now and it just now occurred to me to check
out the local user group.

I worked at Smashing Ideas for a while and eventually set off on my
own to freelance full time. So far it's been pretty great. You can see
some of what I've been up to at endquote.com.

I won't be able to make the next meeting as I'll be on vacation, which
is something of a shame. It looks like it covers a topic I'd be very
interested in, as I tend to bury my head in the ActionScript sand and
could definitely use some tips on the graphic production side. Do
people take (and post) notes on this sort of thing? If so I'd be into it.

I'll do my best to make the November meeting.

Best of luck to you all on your projects,
-josh

You need to go to the schedule of classes.  The ones in RED are free, this is one of those.

Try this link:

It’s about 2/3rd down the page under “One-Day Professional Development Workshops”.

I used the book and that helped a little. I took a lot
of notes, took out several books from the library and
spent ALOT of time studding. I heard studding the help
files is a good way to study.

As for the new test for Flash 8 when it comes out I
will do the same, "Flash 8 on demand has a good guide
line for the test. I read that book before I took the
Flash MX 2004 test.

The tests are difficult and you can't study enough. It
will be interesting to see what the next test will be
like under the Adobe umbrella.

I wanted to send out a quick announcement that I’ll be conducting a two-day Flash Video Intensive workshop at Portland State University at the end of August. The early bird price ends today, so I just thought I’d post it now rather than later.

More details below…

Flash Video Intensive

August 25 & 26, 2006

Portland State University - 250 Urban Bldg

The Professional Development Center is proud to offer 2 days with Robert Reinhardt, author of the Flash Bible and the forthcoming Flash Video Studio Techniques (Adobe Press).

Robert will cover must-have information on digital video in Flash - from preproduction considerations to intermediate and advanced issues in multiple bit rates, SMIL, and deployment, including progressive web video, real-time streaming, FVSS options and a green screen demonstration. Students who wish to try the hands-on demos should bring a laptop.

Whether you use video in your business or have intermediate skills developing websites with Flash, this session will be invaluable to get you involved in the hottest new movement on the Web. Don't miss this rare opportunity to get a jump on the industry.

Hi Kinsey,

I have done all sides of Flash and am used to doing the "all-in-one"
shot, but I prefer the development side. I love ActionScript:)

I chose Yakima as my sister lives here and it is the same distance to
Portland as it is to Seattle:)

Greetings.

Please feel free to post questions and comments that are related to
Flash and/or Flash paraphenalia, Dreamweaverm, Flex, Actonscripting,
Animation ... you get the idea. You can post job openings or job
requests or just about anything else. Please do not use this forum to
shamelessly promote your commercial products. The last thing we need
here is to be bombarded by a lot of advertising.

We can also use this to set up small group activities like studying
actionscripting, get together to brush up for exams, learn from one
another about animation or drawing in general.

So please ask and post away!
